You can walk the route as a daily stroll, proceed section by section from village to village, or even spend a week on it. The trail also offers interesting lea ing opportunities for schools and daycare centres along the way. Many playgrounds are suitable for families with children as fun places to take a break.

The trail section in Ruotsinkylä is rocky in places. The sections in Lahela and Nahkela, on the other hand, are easy, except for the forest trail in Ristikivi, which can be avoided by taking the Ristikiventie road. Part of the route is also suitable for skiing and mountain or road cycling.

The route is complemented by a three-kilometre loop in the Ruotsinkylä research forest in Tuusula, where you can lea about animal species and exercise according to the instructions of Tmi Hyvahapen. In Lahela, the route is punctuated by fitness tips from the Syke Tuusula sports club. The connecting route leads to the Citynomadi guided tour around Lake Tuusula.

History of the hiking trail

The idea for a hike across the capital region was bo in 1964, when the Academic Sports Association wanted to tu its Oulu-Helsinki ski race into something permanent. Thus, the Seven Brothers Hike from Palojoe in Nurmijärvi to Pirkkola in Helsinki was developed, along with the Impivaara Run, which attracted thousands of fitness enthusiasts. The Seven Brothers Ski Race was organised between Hyvinkää and Helsinki. The traditions of the Impivaara Run are now upheld by the Capital City Run, which is held in Central Park.
