Aleksis Kivi Day is celebrated in Tuusula
On Saturday 10 October, flags will be flown to mark Aleksis Kivi and Finnish Literature Day. In Tuusula, Aleksis Kivi will be commemorated with a wreath-laying ceremony at Tuusula Churchyard on Friday 9 October. Everyone is welcome to join in celebrating our national writer. To mark the occasion, Aleksis Kivi’s final home will be open on Friday from 10.00 to 15.00 and on Saturday from 12.00 to 17.00. The Red Nose Company’s production of ‘Aleksis Kivi’ will be staged at the Monio Cultural Centre.
Pekka Halonen’s exhibition opens in Denmark
The exhibition “Pekka Halonen: Finland’s Invitation” opens today at the Ordrupgaard Museum. It presents Pekka Halonen as one of the most significant artists in Finnish art history. The exhibition has been organised in collaboration with the Ateneum Art Museum, the Petit Palais art museum in Paris, the Rijksmuseum Twenthe in the Netherlands and the Ordrupgaard Museum. Several works and artefacts from Halosenniemi are included in the exhibition.
