The first week

Monday

Our first week began with us arriving early on Monday mo ing and standing in line waiting for Katja, the community manager who was guiding us. When Katja arrived, we got to work. We started by going to the Hautomo meeting room, where Katja explained the purpose of the osbu tour and what we were supposed to do. It was nice to get to know osbu better.

During the day, we also got to make pins, which was fun. And luckily, with everyone working together, it went really quickly. After that, we started working on the lessons for the following week’s Osbu tour. We had to write the teaching material in Swedish, and then we practised presenting it to Katja and project worker Tiia.

Tuesday

The day began with making pins, and it was already clear that things were going better than the previous day. After that, we moved on to making a TikTok post, which was fun. Once the video was ready, we continued cleaning the cupboards. There was a lot of stuff, but it was rewarding to see the place becoming tidier. At the end of the day, we made some more pins, and then the day was over.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, we got to visit the Tuusula municipal community lending library in Tuuskoto. We started by cleaning tables, chairs and other items. At the same time, we counted the items and recorded them in Excel to ensure that everything was accounted for and in good condition. We took frequent breaks for hot chocolate, but we still worked diligently. We found the inventory of the tents to be a bit tedious, but we managed to get through it. After that, it was already close to three o’clock, and we were able to go home.

Thursday

On Thursday, we retu ed to the Tuusula community library, and the friendly Mika let us in to wait for Tiia, who was running a little late, but that didn’t bother us at all. We started the day by drinking a cup of cocoa while waiting for Tiia. When Tiia arrived, we got down to work. First, we inventoried the first aid equipment and technical and communication equipment. For the rest of the day, we tried to inventory the spotlight lights, but it didn’t go as smoothly. Tiia had something to do, so we got to write this blog and come up with more TikTok ideas. When Tiia retu ed to Tuuskodo, we got to go home.

Friday

On Friday, we visited the Tuusula municipal office in Sahankulma. On Friday, we mainly made more pins and prepared for the following week’s OSB tour. We also went through which schools we would be visiting on each day and the schedule in general. Friday was a fairly quiet and pleasant day, which was a good way to end the first week of work experience.

Another week

Monday

First, we visited the Sahankulma office, and then we went to Kellokoski School, where we handed out pins and sweets and told the pupils about the school bus. We also enjoyed a delicious school lunch at Kellokoski School before continuing with the day. Finally, we retu ed to the Sahankulma office, where we brainstormed TikTok ideas and made more pins. The day went by quite quickly, and we had fun meeting pupils from another school.

Tuesday

Tuesday was a fairly relaxed day for us. We visited the Tuusula library and got to mould and colour in colouring pictures. It was a fairly quiet day at the library, so we only got to talk to a couple of young people from the OSB. The day also included a trip to the shop and lunch at the office. Finally, we wrote a blog post and filmed a fun TikTok video to end the day.

Wednesday

Wednesday began with us arriving at Tusby träsk svenska skolan first thing in the mo ing. We held a lesson in Swedish for pupils in grades 1–4, and afterwards we helped them develop their ideas. We left the school at around 11 a.m. and headed to Riihikallio School. At Riihikallio, we gathered more ideas and handed out sweets. Finally, we drove to the office, where we brainstormed more TikTok ideas and wrote a blog post.

Thursday

We visited Tuusulanjärvi School to present OSB to the Swedish-speaking students and helped them develop their own ideas. After that, we went to Rykmentinpuisto School, where we handed out pins and sweets and told people about osbu. In the afte oon, we retu ed to the office, where we wrote a blog, filled in Excel spreadsheets and developed new TikTok ideas. Finally, we were able to go home after a long day at work.

Friday

In the mo ing, we went to the office in Sahankulma and prepared to leave for the school centre. Then we helped Tiia pack the exhibition stand into the car. The exhibition stand and all of us did not fit into the car, so we had to walk to the school. At the school, we handed out sweets and pins and also collected ideas from the pupils. We then went around the school promoting OSB and handing out sweets. In the afte oon, we continued finishing the blog and filled in the last Excel spreadsheets. Finally, Katja invited us for coffee and cake and handed out our work certificates.

This has been a very pleasant experience; we have lea ed a lot and gained a lot of work experience. Many thanks to Katja and Tiia, who had to put up with us.
