Applying for after-school activities

Applications for after-school activities for schoolchildren are made using an online form via the eDaisy programme. You log in to the service using your online banking credentials via the Suomi.fi service.

The centralised application period for places starting in autumn 2026 is 11 December 2025–31 March 2026 for prospective Year 1 pupils. Parents and carers have been informed of this directly in a letter regarding school enrolment. The centralised application period for pupils entering Year 2 and those in higher years is 1 February to 31 March 2026. Parents and carers will be informed of this via Wilma. It is also possible to apply after the application period has ended. However, applications received during the centralised application period will be given priority.

If you are applying for a place at an after-school club outside the main application period, please contact the after-school activities coordinator. You can find their contact details at the bottom of the page.

Please bear the following points in mind when completing the application form

Once you have logged in to the eDaisy service, select the ‘After-school activities for schoolchildren’ tab on the home page. This will open the application form for after-school activities.

On the application form, select an area (for example, Jokela) and, from the list of schools that appears below it, select the school where your child is due to start school or is already attending.

In cases of joint custody (where the parents do not live at the same address), the application form may only be completed by the person named as the payer on the invoice.

The school placements for prospective Year 1 pupils will be finalised in the headteachers’ admission decisions during week 13.

If, for any reason, you are unable to apply for a place at the after-school club via eDaisy, you can submit the attached application form to the after-school activities coordinator.

Morning and afternoon activities for the special needs classes at Rykmentinpuisto and Kolsa schools

Morning and afternoon activities provided to pupils in special classes in the municipality of Tuusula as part of special care or short-term care are organised by the welfare services and delivered by the municipalities. The activities are organised in accordance with a separate agreement with KEUSOTE. If a child does not have a decision from KEUSOTE regarding the service, families pay the same client fee for the activities as families whose children participate in after-school activities within mainstream education.

After-school care for special needs classes enables parents to participate in the labour market and offers a varied range of activities that promote social interaction. The programme is based on cooperation with parents and on care and guidance designed to maintain the child’s functional abilities.

Organisation of activities

Morning and afternoon activities are organised at Kolsa and Rykmentinpuisto schools for pupils in classes M, K and T. These activities are available during term time from Monday to Friday, with morning care starting at 7.30 am and afternoon care running from 12 noon to 4.30 pm. In addition, full-day holiday care is organised during the autumn and winter holidays, as well as in June and August before the start of the school year.

Applying to take part in the programme

Applications for morning and afternoon activities in special needs classes are made via eDaisy, following the same instructions as for other afternoon activity groups. During the school year, you should apply for an afternoon activity place as soon as possible once the need arises. The preliminary information form for special needs classes’ afternoon activities must be completed and returned to the school immediately after submitting the application.

Waiving or halving the customer fee

Applications for a waiver or a 50 per cent reduction in the customer fee should primarily be submitted via eDaisy, in accordance with the instructions below.

Completing an application via eDaisy (you will be redirected to another service)(opens in a new window, switch to another service):

  • Log in using strong authentication.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page, where the ‘Applications’ tab is currently active.
  • Select the ‘Income Statement’ form from the drop-down menu.
  • Click the ‘Fill in the form’ button.
  • Select the child to whom the report relates → Confirm
  • There is an additional information field at the end of the results report form. Please state there that the results report covers AP and IP activities in special classes.
    • If the reason for waiving the customer fee is a service provided by KEUSOTE, the relevant decision must be attached as an annex.
  • Please note that if you are completing an income statement and there are several children in the family, a separate statement must be completed for each child.

Applying for holiday childcare

A separate form must be completed to apply for holiday care. You can either print out the form and bring it to Rykmentinpuisto School (please write ‘Egne Rähn / special needs classes’ afternoon activities’ on the envelope) or email it to egne.rahn@tuusula.fi.

A place at the after-school club is allocated for the whole school year. When registering
for the programme, you must commit to attending for 4.5 months, i.e. until the end of December. At other times, the notice period is one full calendar month.

Confirmation of position and resignation

By submitting the application, the family commits to a place at the after-school club. A parent or guardian may cancel the place free of charge within 14 days of receiving the decision. Cancellation must be made in writing to the after-school activities coordinator. Once the cancellation period has expired, the standard notice period applies.

During the autumn, in the event of resignation, full exemption from payments after the notice period may only be granted on the following grounds:

  • moving away from the area,
  • a change in family circumstances (e.g. unemployment, job-sharing leave, maternity leave) or
  • where this is in the child’s best interests. If the notice of withdrawal is given on the grounds of the child’s best interests, the group leaders, the teacher and, where necessary, other relevant parties will also be consulted on the matter. In other cases, the family will be charged half the activity fee for the remainder of the autumn term following the notice period.

During the spring term, withdrawal from activities must take place within the notice period.

Dismissal procedure

The notice period is always one full calendar month. Notice of withdrawal from the after-school programme must be given in writing at least one month before the end of the final month of attendance. Notification must be made via Daisy or, if this is not possible, by contacting the coordinator. You must also always inform the club’s supervisor when you wish to leave.

Organising after-school clubs

Applications for after-school clubs are made to the club at the local school. The club location is determined in accordance with the school placement decision, and activities will take place at the child’s own school if 13 children enrol during the centralised application period. Otherwise, the after-school club will be held at a nearby school. In such cases, the child will be transported from school to the after-school club, but not from the after-school club back home.

No later than the start of the club, parents or guardians must complete a preliminary information form for their child, which should be handed to the club leader.

Costs of after-school activities and fee relief

A fixed monthly fee is charged for the afternoon activities, as set out in the table below.

Operating hours Monthly payments
(from 1 August 2026)
Half the fee
(from 1 August 2026)
12:00–16:00 (0–4 hours) €150€75
12.00–16.30 (over 4 hours) €160€80

An invoice for the monthly fee will be sent after the month in which the child attended. School holidays do not affect the amount of the monthly fee. The club fee for August is half the monthly fee. If a payment concession has been granted, this will be taken into account when halving the fee. No invoice will be issued for June, even though there may be individual club days in some years.

In which circumstances is a different monthly fee charged?

Below are descriptions of situations where the club fee is lower than the standard monthly fee. You will also find instructions on how to apply for a fee reduction.

Income-based reduction in payments

Applications to waive or halve a customer fee should primarily be submitted via eDaisy in accordance with the instructions below.

The decision is valid for a fixed period, up to one academic year at a time. Any fee relief granted will be taken into account in the next invoice. Applications for fee relief are always taken into account from the start of the month in which your income details have been provided to us. We do not refund fees retrospectively. The payment relief thresholds are based on the Ministry of Education and Culture’s announcement regarding index-linked early years education client fees, 1411/2015.

Gross income thresholds from 1 August 2026
  • If there are two people in the household, the income threshold for exemption from the user charge (0%) is €4,369 and the income threshold for a 50% reduction in the user charge is €5,639.
  • If there are 3 people in the household, the income threshold for exemption from the user charge (0%) is €5,635 and the income threshold for a 50% reduction in the user charge is €6,813.
  • If there are 4 people in the household, the income threshold for exemption from the user charge (0%) is €6,399 and the income threshold for a 50% reduction in the user charge is €7,513.
  • If there are 5 people in the household, the income threshold for exemption from the user charge (0%) is €7,163 and the income threshold for a 50% reduction in the user charge is €8,214.
  • If there are 6 people in the household, the income threshold for exemption from the user charge (0%) is €7,925 and the income threshold for a 50 per cent reduction in the user charge is €8,915.

If the family has more than 6 members, €295 is added to the minimum income limits for the family. For example, if there are 8 people in the family, 2 × €295, or €590,

is added. Completing the application via eDaisy(switch to another service):

  • Log in using strong authentication.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page, where the ‘Applications’ tab is currently active.
  • Select the ‘Income Statement’ form from the drop-down menu.
  • Click the ‘Fill in the form’ button.
  • Select the child to whom the report relates → Confirm
  • There is an additional information field at the end of the results report form. Please state there that the results report is for IP activities.
  • Please note that if you are completing an income statement and there are several children in the family, a separate statement must be completed for each child.

If, for any reason, you are unable to submit your income statement via the eDaisy service, please send your application by email to varhaiskasvatus.laskutus@tuusula.fi. Please ensure that you include the following attachments in your email:

  • A signed and dated application form for a 50 per cent reduction in, or exemption from, the after-school activities fee
  • the decision to enrol in after-school activities, and
  • copies of income statements or payslips (for those not resident in Tuusula).

Further information on the calculations in the financial statements and payment relief is available from the Early Years Education Secretary. Email: varhaiskasvatus.laskutus@tuusula.fi

Monthly fee for a pupil enrolled in afternoon activities partway through the month

If a child starts attending the after-school programme part-way through the month and attends on no more than 10 days that month, half the fee will be charged.

If a child starts attending the after-school programme partway through the month and attends on more than ten days during that month, the full monthly fee will be charged.

An absence lasting the whole month

If a child has no days of attendance during the month, half the fee will be charged. Please notify the after-school activities coordinator separately. In the event of a prolonged illness (more than 10 consecutive days), please contact the after-school activities coordinator.

Sibling discount

A 20% sibling discount is applied to the monthly fee. The full fee is payable for the first child to join the club, whilst a 20% discount is applied to subsequent children.

The sibling discount is not applied automatically; you must apply for it by sending an email to the early years education billing department at varhaiskasvatus.laskutus@tuusula.fi. Please include the children’s names and the name of the club in your email.
