Afte oon club

The person responsible for general education at the Rykmentinpuisto afte oon club is

Maija Ulappa, tel. 040 314 3236

Children are picked up from the lobby. Access to the lobby is via the main entrance.

The club is open from 12 noon to 4.30 p.m.

Principles and objectives of the club’s activities:

The afte oon club’s activities are child-centred. Children are individuals and are treated equally in the club. Discussion and asking children for their opinions are part of our daily routine. We want to create a relaxed and enjoyable afte oon with the children and make the club “our club.” We do crafts and draw, and play is a very important part of the children’s lives. Our idea is to teach children to be considerate of others. We, the instructors, make sure that there is something suitable for every child in the activities. The planning of the club’s activities is flexible.

The objectives of the afte oon club are:

  • provide safe, supervised and guided activities for pupils in grades 1–2
  • enables parents to work
  • support the educational work of schools and homes
  • make the child feel safe when an adult is present, someone who will listen and also give a hug if comfort is needed
  • teach children to take care of and take responsibility for their homework
  • teach children to take care of their own belongings
  • teach good manners, teach table manners
  • teach them to consider others and form friendships – friends are not left alone.

Information about the activities and application process for afte oon clubs in the municipality of Tuusula can be found on the afte oon club activities page.

Mo ing and afte oon activities for special classes

The mo ing and afte oon activities provided as special care for pupils in special classes in the municipality of Tuusula are organised by the welfare sector and provided by the municipalities. The activities are organised in accordance with a separate agreement made with Keusote.

Afte oon care in special classes gives parents the opportunity to work and provides diverse activities that promote social interaction for pupils with developmental disabilities. The activities are based on cooperation with parents and care and guidance that maintains the client’s functional capacity.

Organising activities

The activities are organised into five different groups. Afte oon activities are offered to pupils in special classes during school hours and during the autumn and winter holidays from Monday to Friday between 12 noon and 4.30 p.m. In addition, full-day holiday care is organised in June and August.

Applying for afte oon activities

Applications for special class afte oon activities are primarily submitted via eDaisy, following the same instructions as for other afte oon activity groups. During the school year, applications for afte oon activities should be submitted as soon as possible when the need arises.

Prevention and investigation of bullying

Our school is a KiVa School®. We have an anti-bullying plan in place.

During the 2025–2026 academic year, Kiva team teachers can be contacted via Wilma or by email (etunimi.sukunimi@tuusula.fi). We will update this information in August.

Supporting pupils

Student welfare work refers to all activities that support the school day and everyday studying. The school has a student welfare team (OHR), which is a multi-professional working group. The head teacher chairs the student welfare team.

The principal, a special needs teacher with a broad range of expertise, the school psychologist, the school counsellor, the school nurse and the class teacher or form tutor whose class or pupil is being discussed are involved in the OHR’s activities at our school. All classes are reviewed once a year by the student welfare team together with the class teachers/form tutors. Parents are also welcome to discuss matters conce ing their own children with the OHR. The time for the discussion will be agreed separately.

The student welfare team’s task is to support high-quality basic education and a good school day, to nurture a culture that promotes growth and development, and to organise and provide students with support related to school attendance when needed.

School health care

School health care supports the growth and development of children and young people and aims to contribute to the development of values and attitudes that promote health. Health examinations are carried out annually for pupils, and health monitoring visits are carried out as necessary. If necessary, the school nurse provides acute care to pupils who fall ill during the school day and administers first aid in the event of accidents. However, actual medical care is not part of school health care but is provided at health centres.
