The fully digital Virtual Museum Muste opens its doors

No VR glasses? No problem! You can try out the digital experiences of the Musteen virtual museum at the opening events in Järvenpää, Tuusula and Kerava.

The Muste Virtual Museum is a unique combination of digital exhibition spaces, accessible virtual versions of cultural heritage sites, and models of environments that have been lost over the course of history. As part of the museum complex, you can visit the Sibelius family’s bedroom and study on the upper floor of Ainola for the first time – or try your hand at archery in the Tivoli Sariola amusement park from 100 years ago.

We realise that not every home has VR glasses or a powerful computer. That is why the museum opening will be held in this dimension! Come and experience and try out what the virtual museum has to offer: the cultural heritage of Central Uusimaa in a new way.

Experiences Virtual Museum in Muste

Virtual Ainola
Visit the upper floor of Ainola for the first time, including the Sibelius’s bedroom and the master composer’s study. A demo is available on the website. 

Virtual Suviranta
Explore Eero and Saimi Järnefelt’s artist studio, which has been scanned using hyperrealistic photogrammetry technology. Demo available on the website. 

360° experiences
Travel with virtual guides to the last days of Aleksis Kivi, the Erkkola artists’ home, the everyday life of the workers at the Jokela brick factory, and other significant sites around Lake Tuusula. Links to experiences on the website. 

Lottaopisto
Step into a 3D model of the Syväranta villa hall as it was before the building burned down in the 1940s. Demo available on the website. 

Pavilion Muste
Visit the virtual pavilion floating above Lake Tuusulanjärvi! This social multi-user platform is available with VR glasses and a browser. 

Tivoli Sariola
Try your hand at archery and rifle shooting at the century-old Tivoli Sariola. 

Throughout Suviranta
Create your own newspaper in the style of a young aristocrat from the 20th century. 

Follow the Virtual Museum Muste, as more experiences will be added after the opening! For example, Keravan Vanha Valtatie takes you on a virtual journey to the centre of Kerava 100 years ago, and Ahola rises to the centre of Paviljonki Muste.

The Muste Virtual Museum is a centre that brings together the cultural heritage of Central Uusimaa in accessible digital experiences. The museum has been created in collaboration with the municipalities of Järvenpää, Tuusula and Kerava, as well as the Ainola Foundation and the Lotta Svärd Foundation. 

The Muste virtual museum is a project funded by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU construction aid. In Finland, the grant is distributed by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
