Sixth-graders explored the forest in Tuusula
There has been a buzz of activity in Ruotsinkylä, Tuusula, as a large group of year 6 pupils from the Helsinki metropolitan area have been exploring the forest environment. This is part of the ‘All Year 6 Pupils to the Forest’ initiative, during which the young people are provided with a wide range of information about forests. The programme was presented today in Tuusula.

The ‘Child-friendly Tuusula’ knowledge base – five perspectives on the wellbeing of children and young people
Tuusula has launched a shared knowledge base that brings together information on the situation of children, young people and families with children. It helps to identify factors affecting well-being and supports the consideration of children’s rights in decision-making. The content is now available for everyone to view.
Stronger support through partnership – Tuusula and Järvenpää launch the SISUKAS inter-municipal collaboration
Tuusula Municipality and the City of Järvenpää are strengthening their cooperation in supporting the education of children and young people in care. The collaboration, which is set to begin in autumn 2026, will adopt the SISUKAS operating model developed by Pesäpuu ry.
Tuusula’s museum and cultural services took over Hyökkälä School
The Hyökkälä School, known as ‘Nopaksi’, welcomed new occupants at the start of September. The building houses workspaces for museum and cultural staff, as well as storage facilities for the municipality’s art and cultural history collections.
Changes to the emptying intervals for property septic tanks and closed tanks
The Kolmenkierto Waste Management Board has announced that the maximum permitted interval between emptying septic tanks and cesspits at holiday homes has been extended to three years.
The Finnish Defence Forces will be conducting exercises in Tuusula from 30 August to 4 September
The Lively Stronghold 26 local defence exercise will also see the Finnish Defence Forces carrying out operations in Tuusula at the turn of August and September. Troops will be moving around the exercise area; in addition, drones will be flown and training ammunition used at some exercise sites.
YIT has been selected as the service provider for the Lahela school, nursery and youth centre lifecycle project
On Monday 24 August, the Tuusula Municipal Executive Board selected YIT Rakennus Oy as the service provider for the forthcoming Lahela life-cycle project. The project involves the design and construction of Lahela School, a nursery and a youth centre, as well as the provision of property maintenance and user services over a 20-year service period.
