On 16 June 2025, the Tuusula Municipal Council approved the Sammonmäki IV local detailed plan and amendment to the local detailed plan located in the Focus area. The decision became legally binding on 1 August 2025, and the plan came into force upon announcement on 20 August 2025. The municipality has drawn up the amendment to the local detailed plan in cooperation with YIT, the largest landowner in the area.

The total area of the local detailed plan is approximately 38 hectares, allowing for more than 80,000 square metres of building rights. Sammonmäki IV is the first large-scale planning project in the area and serves as a starting point for the large-scale development of the Focus area. The next step is to launch more detailed municipal engineering planning for areas already covered by local detailed plans and to continue the local detailed planning of areas north of the Kehä IV ring road.

With the Focus area, the municipality is implementing its strategic goal of providing more employment sites with excellent transport connections. Once completed, the Focus area will offer a total of up to one million square metres of building rights. There is room for substantial growth investments and new jobs. The municipality is currently investigating what types of companies could be located in the Focus area.

The Focus area is located on the northern edge of the capital region, next to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, at the intersection of Tuusulanväylä (main road 45) and the future Kehä IV (road 152). The area has fast connections to major highways, ports and the airport.
