Participatory budgeting for children and young people (osbu), which will be launched in September 2025, will give children under the age of 18 in Tuusula a voice and decision-making power. Through osbu, children and young people will be able to influence and come up with ideas for things or projects that will increase well-being and comfort in Tuusula.

The Children and Young People’s Osbu will kick off with a call for ideas on 29 September. The call for ideas will last for three weeks, until 19 October. Ideas will be generated in early childhood education, schools and during leisure time on the Osbu tour in libraries and other meeting places. It will also be possible to generate ideas at youth centres.

Ideas are collected on the Tuusula participation platform at osallistu.tuusula.fi. For younger children, entries are made by adults, while pupils and students can log in to the platform themselves using their Wilma ID or strong authentication.

Further information on submitting ideas can be found in the Daisy and Wilma newsletters delivered to your homes.

What happens after brainstorming?

After the brainstorming phase, the ideas submitted to the participation platform osallistu.tuusula.fi will be further refined. The further development phase will begin in November 2025, during which the ideas will be turned into proposals to be put to a vote, and the cost estimates required for their implementation will be calculated.

The proposals that are implemented will be put to a vote in May 2026. The ideas that receive the most votes will be implemented by the end of 2027.

Participatory budgeting, or PB, is a way for residents to participate in and decide on the use of shared tax revenues. In PB, residents come up with ideas, co-develop them with municipal experts, vote on the projects to be implemented, and participate in the implementation of the projects.
