For the next three weeks, children and young people in Tuusula will be brainstorming ideas in early childhood education, schools, leisure time, on the Osbu tour and at youth centres. The first phase of the tour, the idea search, will last until Sunday 19 October. The tour started at Kellokoski School and will continue around Tuusula for the next three weeks. The tour schedule and locations will be updated during the tour.

Pupils in primary schools get to come up with ideas during lessons. The first lessons were held at the Riihikallio and Kellokoski schools on the very first day of brainstorming, and lessons will be held at other schools over the next two weeks. During the first two days, a couple of hundred suggestions have already been made on how to improve well-being and comfort in Tuusula.

Ideas are collected on the Tuusula participation platform osallistu.tuusula.fi. For younger children, entries are made by adults, while pupils and students can log in to the platform themselves using strong authentication and their school IDs (mpassID, edu and Wilma IDs).

The aim of participatory budgeting for children and young people in Tuusula is to ensure that children’s voices are heard in the creation of a prosperous and pleasant Tuusula.

The total budget available for children and young people’s activities is €150,000 for the entire municipality, which is divided between the different areas. The general economic downturn is also challenging the municipality of Tuusula to curb spending and balance its finances in various ways. The amount of funding has been reduced by €50,000 from the original budget due to the economic situation.
