Temporary building in the school grounds at Lepola
Pupils at Lepola School will be provided with temporary premises in a temporary building to be rented in the school’s current grounds. The Education and Culture Committee discussed the matter at its meeting on 31 March 2026. The aim is for the premises to be ready for use at the start of 2027.
The Education and Culture Committee of Tuusula Municipality has decided to lease a temporary building for the school grounds at Lepola, which will bring together all the teaching and student welfare facilities required by the school. The building will be situated on the sand pitch next to the old wooden school building at Lepola.
The 1950s section of Lepola School, built of stone, was taken out of use due to indoor air quality issues that had arisen in the premises. The local authority temporarily relocated some of the pupils to Vanhankylä School in early 2026.
The chosen option provides facilities for three teaching groups, as well as spaces for craft activities, special needs education and student welfare services, storage rooms, toilet facilities and other spaces supporting teaching, until the situation regarding the service network for Lepola School and all schools and nurseries in the Jokela area has been resolved. The extension will enable the entire school community to remain within the same school grounds and supports the implementation of the neighbourhood school principle.
The estimated cost of the extension for the entire lease period (60 months) is approximately €1.26 million. The Facilities Services department will immediately put the temporary premises out to tender via Numera Palvelut Oy’s framework agreement. The aim is for the temporary premises to be available for pupils’ use at the start of 2027. The planned lease term is 5 years (60 months) plus any option years (2 years).
