Helsinki–Riihimäki railway project: Noisy works in Jokela at night from 21 to 23 September and from 29 September to 1 October

As part of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency’s Helsinki–Riihimäki railway project, pile-driving work associated with the construction of a retaining wall in Jokela will continue over four nights at the end of September and beginning of October. This phase of the work may cause noise disturbance in the surrounding area.

Noisy work will be carried out at the following times:

Noisy night-time work will be carried out in stages, with work taking place for two consecutive nights, followed by six quiet nights.

“The retaining wall currently under construction will enable the building of the Blennerintie bridge, which passes under the railway line. Unfortunately, we will have to carry out some of the track-side piling work at night, as train services on the main line must be able to continue as normal during the day. There is less train traffic at night, which allows for longer work windows. This work, which has been ongoing since spring, is causing temporary noise disturbance to the local area, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. “Once the retaining wall is complete, the actual construction of the bridge will mainly be carried out during the day,” explains Riitta Parviainen, Project Manager at the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency.
