Culture for older people
We offer high-quality art and cultural experiences to senior citizens in Tuusula and staff working in elderly care services. When providing cultural services for senior citizens, we take accessibility into account and bring services close to people.

The performances are free of charge and there is no need to register separately.
Mirjam’s poems mainly focus on Nordic nature, everyday life and its moments of happiness, and of course love. Particularly touching are the poems about marginalised young people who have fallen by the wayside. She became acquainted with them while working as a special needs teacher during her last years of employment. The poems also deal with ageing and, ultimately, death. However, she describes these with joyful irony. Markus Fagerudd has set a few of the poems to music. The performers are the Tervola Group, consisting of Eila Halonen, Markku Huhtamo, Juhani Laitala, Juha Mäntylä, Marja Pesonen and Timo Pylkkänen.
The activities are carried out in cooperation with the municipality and Siskot and Simot.
Home concerts
We primarily offer this service to elderly people who find it difficult to participate in cultural activities organised outside their homes. Elderly people can bring their friends, neighbours and family members to the concert.
In May–June 2025, we organised our second home concert tour. Lauri Hongisto, a singer-guitarist from Järvenpää, performed at the home concerts. Hongisto is known from many rock and folk bands and has released one solo album.
Hongisto performed timeless melodies at his home concerts. In 1976, Musiikki Fazer published the first Suuri Toivelaulukirja (Great Songbook of Hope). For almost 50 years, this series of books has collected Finland’s most beloved songs, the best of which Lauri Hongisto sings at his spring home concerts.

Service home tour
We produce a summer concert series for staff, residents and families at care homes. We have collaborated with Meidän Festivaalit on care home tours, and the Kamus Quartet, which is responsible for the artistic direction of Meidän Festivaalit, has performed at care homes.
Senior Citizens Week
The Senior Citizens’ Week and Day, launched by the Central Union for the Welfare of the Aged, are the longest-running national themed events in Finland. During the week, Tuusula will host a wide range of activities aimed at senior citizens. Local pension associations and operators are heavily involved in producing the content for the theme week in collaboration with Tuusula’s cultural services.
One of the highlights of the week is the main celebration, which is organised by a local pensioners’ association on a rotating basis. The Senior Citizens’ Week celebration is a prestigious event featuring wonderful speeches and spectacular performances.
Senior Citizens’ Week celebration on 8 October 2025
This year, Senior Citizens’ Week was celebrated in Tuusula at Seuratalo Väinölä, located at Kirkkotie 6, Tuusula. The keynote speech was given by Irene Vuorisalo, Senior Citizens’ Representative for the Finnish Pensioners’ Association. Speeches were also given by representatives of the municipality of Tuusula and the parish.
