Event at Kotorannanpuisto

On the shores of Lake Tuusulanjärvi, in Kotorannanpuisto Park, people experience powerful emotions and draw strength from art

The Tuusula Night of the Arts event at Kotorannanpuisto will take place from 6 pm to 10 pm (Kotorannankuja 10, Tuusula). The event at Kotorannanpuisto brings people of all ages together to enjoy a late-summer evening. On the shores of Lake Tuusula, visitors can draw inspiration from art, music, dance, circus performances and simply being together.

In the stage area, you can enjoy a variety of performances and the atmosphere; feel free to bring your own blanket and a picnic to make the most of an August evening right until sunset. In the workshop area, as usual, you can get hands-on and try things out for yourself, whilst the restaurant area offers food, drinks and treats for sale (no alcohol is sold). Entry to the area is free.

The event in the park will feature, amongst others, Wimme & Rinne, who have taken international world music charts and concert stages by storm with their joik and stunning soundscapes, as well as the internationally acclaimed Jimi Tenor and Nössö Nova, a rising star known for their unforgettable live performances. The programme also includes classical music gems, a spectacular circus for the whole family, the site-specific dance piece CHARGE, bursting with energy, stage productions and light art, as well as plenty of other attractions.

How do I market my event?

Please submit your event to the Tuusula events calendar by 15 May. This will ensure that your event is included in the programme booklet, on the event website, on posters and in social media marketing.

Share the event on your own social media channels too! Remember to tag @tuusulankunta in your posts and stories so we can share them. Use the hashtags #TuusulanTaiteidenYö and #ElämisenTaidetta.

If you would like to be a co-organiser of a Facebook event, please send a message to the cultural producer at kulttuuri@tuusula.fi.

What information needs to be submitted to the Tuusula events calendar by 15 May?

Please provide as much detail as possible about the programme’s content, timetable, target group (e.g. families with children, young people, adults, older people) and venue.

Add the following text at the end: The event is part of Tuusula Arts Night. The full programme can be found on the website: www.tuusula.fi/taiteidenyo. Please come to the event on foot, by bike, by HSL bus or by the free shuttle bus. The bus runs between Järvenpää railway station, Hyrylä bus terminal and Riihikallio, stopping at all bus stops as required.

Do I need to create a separate event in the events calendar for every programme item I organise?

No, it shouldn’t. There are plenty of events, so it’s a good idea to bring together all the activities taking place at the same venue into a single event, such as the Tuusula Night of the Arts in Halosenniemi.

What should I do if I forgot to add my event to the events calendar by 15 May?

You can promote your event on your own channels and on social media by tagging @tuusulankunta – we may then feature your event, for example, in our Instagram Stories.

Can I use the event logo in my marketing?

Yes, you can. You can download the logos from the Tuusula local authority’s Flickr page.

What does the person in charge of the event need to know?

Every event must have a designated person in charge. Event organisers are responsible for the permits, insurance and safety of their own events and act as the responsible organisers of their own events. Event organisers organise their events using their own budget. Municipal cultural grants may be applied for to support programme content.

Will the local authority pay for the programme I’ve organised?

It’s free. You can apply for grants from the Culture and Leisure Committee to cover programme costs. Your event can be free or chargeable.

What sort of licences or safety plans does my event require?

Each event organiser is responsible for applying for the necessary licences for their event and drawing up a safety plan. This applies, for example, to the Teosto licence and the noise permit.

Is Tuusula Municipality’s insurance valid for my event?

No, there isn’t. Each event organiser is responsible for their own insurance.

Is Rantatie closed?

No, they aren’t. The venues along Rantatie are operating as normal. The event is being organised differently to previous years. The programme organised by the municipality will take place in Kotorannanpuisto, at the museums in Tuusula and at the swimming pool.

How are people guided around during the evening?

We recommend that members of the public travel to the event on foot, by bike, by HSL bus or by the free shuttle bus. The bus runs between Järvenpää railway station, Hyrylä bus terminal and Riihikallio, stopping at all bus stops as required. During the evening, free event buses will also run on the Hyrylä–Kellokoski–Jokela route. Timetables can be found on this website. The nearest train stations are Jokela, Kerava and Ainola (Järvenpää). Culture moves us <3

There are events in South Tuusula, Kellokoski and Jokela – will there be time to see everything this evening?

There isn’t time. At Tuusula Arts Night, participants choose which events they want to attend. The events have different profiles and target audiences.

Where can families with children find activities?

Tuusula Municipality is organising activities suitable for all ages at Kotorannapuisto (Kotorannankuja 10, Tuusula). No alcohol is sold in the area.

There are also activities suitable for children at other event venues. It’s worth taking a good look at the programme before you go, so you know where to find the most suitable activities.

What is the correct spelling of the event’s name?

Tuusula Arts Night. In accordance with Finnish spelling conventions, ‘Tuusula’ is capitalised and the other words are in lower case.

I’d like to perform at the Tuusula Arts Night – who should I contact?

You can organise your own event or performance yourself; please request permission to use the area and register your event with the Tuusula events calendar by 15 May.

Performers from the municipality of Tuusula are booked by Tuusula’s cultural producer as early as the turn of the year. In Kellokoski, the main organiser is Kellokosken Ruukki ry, and in Jokela, it is Jekku ry.

I’d like to sell café products at the Tuusula Arts Night – is that possible?

The cultural organiser books café staff for the Tuusula municipality’s event venues on an invitation-only basis as early as the turn of the year.

I’d like to sell my art or handicrafts at the Tuusula Arts Night – who should I contact?

Please contact Gustavelund.

We’d like to showcase our party’s activities – where can we pitch our tent?

You’re not going anywhere, as Tuusula’s Night of the Arts is a politically neutral event. For these four hours, the spotlight will be on artists and those working in the creative sectors. This policy was established by Tuusulan Taiteiden Yö ry, which organised the event previously, and Tuusula Municipality is continuing to follow this approach.

What does it mean for an event to be non-denominational?

Tuusula Municipality organises a programme suitable for everyone, which is non-denominational, in neutral venues. Culture belongs to everyone. Religious communities may organise cultural events open to all during Tuusula’s Night of the Arts (for example, a concert in a church).

Who ‘owns’ Tuusula’s Night of the Arts?

Currently, the Municipality of Tuusula. The event was previously organised by Tuusulan Taiteiden Yö ry, with whom the municipality agreed on 24 March 2022 that the Municipality of Tuusula would organise the event in the years 2022–2026.

What is Tuusula Local Authority doing to support Tuusula Arts Night?

We are doing the following in preparation for the Night of the Arts:

  • The Municipality of Tuusula is the organiser of the event and allocates resources from Tuusula’s cultural services to organise it.
  • The local authority is organising the event programme on its own premises.
  • The local authority is offering event organisers (individuals, associations and organisations) the opportunity to get involved as organisers of the community-based Tuusula Arts Night.
  • The local authority offers the opportunity to apply for grants for event programmes.
  • The local authority publicises the event. It provides event organisers with the Tuusula events calendar as a communication platform and compiles programme details. Among other things, the municipality produces the event’s website, programme booklet, posters, newspaper advertisements, social media posts and signage.
  • The local authority will pay for the coach transport for the event.

Which of the municipality’s cultural organisers will be organising Tuusula’s Night of the Arts in 2026?
