Information for students
Here you can find more information about the college's course fees, discounts, spring exhibitions, holidays and other important matters.

Course fee
The course fee is stated in the course description. By registering, you agree to pay the course fee. We invoice autumn and spring courses separately. We invoice courses that last the whole year in two instalments: in October for the autumn term and in February for the spring term. We invoice all courses after they have started. We send the invoice to your home address or as an e-invoice to your online bank if you have made an agreement with your bank.
Please note that the municipality of Tuusula will switch to using Monetra’s services in April 2024, so e-invoice agreements made before 2024 must be renewed in the online bank.
You can also pay for the college’s courses using the following payment methods:
- Smartum
- ePass
- Edenred.
Please note that these payment methods will no longer be available once the course has been invoiced. Therefore, it is important to pay for spring courses by the end of January and for short courses immediately after they begin. Payments can be made by contacting the office. You can also pay for the course yourself using the app or online, but in this case, please remember to notify the office: opisto@tuusula.fi or 040 314 3415 or 040 314 3418.
Please note that this benefit is personal, so it can only be used to pay your own course fees.
Course materials
Students at the college are responsible for purchasing the necessary course materials themselves. If the materials are included in the course fee or can be purchased collectively, this will be mentioned in the course description. The course fee for the art school includes all materials and supplies.
Cancellation policy
When you register for a course, you agree to pay the course fee. Cancellations must always be made to the college office. Failure to pay for a course or dropping out of a course without notification does not constitute cancellation. If you cancel your enrolment in the course at least 10 days before the start of the course, we will not charge you the course fee and will cancel the invoice. If you cancel your enrolment in the course later than this, you will be required to pay the course fee in full.
The college may cancel a planned course one week before it is due to start if there are not enough participants. The college may not compensate for the cancellation of a single study session if it is due to the teacher’s sick leave. If you have to interrupt the course due to illness, please contact the college office immediately on 040 314 3415 or 040 314 3418.
Payment reminders
The notice period is seven (7) days. Payment reminders and collection activities are handled by Revire Perintä Oy. We recommend that you sign up for e-invoicing in your online bank. For more information about e-invoicing, please contact your bank.
Discounts for colleges and art schools
Unemployed residents of Tuusula are entitled to a 50% discount on all courses. A valid certificate of unemployment must be submitted to the College office as soon as possible after enrolment and at the start of each new term. Certificates submitted late will not entitle the holder to a discount.
Siblings of students enrolled in the art school are entitled to a 10% discount. Please notify the school office of the discount by calling 040 314 3415 or sending an email to opisto@tuusula.fi. For information about free student places, please contact the headmaster, Timo Rusas, on 040 314 3414.
Credit courses
If they wish, students can receive an assessment and certificate for the course. The course description is competence-based, so the lea ing outcomes, scope in terms of credits and assessment criteria can be found in the course description. The courses are marked in the guide with an orange Credit Course icon. Credit courses can be taken in the same way as other courses at our college, without aiming for a study achievement.
Echo card
If you have a Kaikukortti card, you can study one course at Tuusulan Opisto free of charge per semester. However, we will charge you for any material fees. The number of Kaikukortti cardholders is limited to one per course. If there is space on the course, more than one Kaikukortti cardholder can join the course, or the card can be used to study on several courses. Some teaching is restricted to Kaikukortti cardholders. When studying with a Kaikukortti card, you must register for the course in the normal way. The card number must be reported to the Tuusula Opisto office before the start of the course (040 3143415 or 040 3143418). The Kaikukortti card cannot be used to study on Leisure Services courses.
Certificates
The college will issue a certificate of attendance upon request. Basic education in the arts leads to a certificate of completion for the general or extensive syllabus.
Insurance and liability
All students are covered by accident insurance. The college is not responsible for clothing or other items left in the cloakrooms or changing rooms.
Holiday periods
The winter holiday will take place during week 8, i.e. 16–20 February 2026.
