Working together, lea ing and developing among all pupils and staff at the school is important to us. We have been developing co-teaching in various ways for several academic years, and this development continues. The student council and peer support activities strengthen student participation. Riihikallio School is also a reading and exercise-oriented school.

Riihikallio School is responsible for music-focused education in grades 3–9 in the municipality of Tuusula. Pupils are selected for music-focused education through a test, which all second-grade pupils in Tuusula have the opportunity to take during the spring term of each school year. See more information about applying for music-focused education.

We are also an Erasmus+ accredited school, offering both teachers and students various opportunities to become more inte ational.

The nickname of Riihikallio School – RIHA – describes the everyday work that is done on every school day during the academic year. The nickname comes from the school’s operating principle, which is ‘Building a Happy Everyday Life with Joy‘.

The values of Riihikallio School – community spirit, safety and responsibility – form the basis for our work. Community spirit ensures that no pupil or adult is left alone with their worries. We take care of our friends and colleagues. Student welfare work focuses particularly on community-based student welfare, without neglecting individual situations and needs. School celebrations and various joint occasions and events help to strengthen community spirit. At Riihikallio School, we want to ensure that every pupil has a safe and enjoyable school day.

Prokoulu

ProKoulu is a school-wide operating model based on research data and developed to prevent behavioural problems. It was developed with funding from the Ministry of Education and Culture in collaboration with the Universities of Easte Finland and Jyväskylä and the Niilo Mäki Institute. The aim of ProKoulu is to create a consistent operating culture throughout the school. This operating culture is primarily created through positive feedback and guidance.

The values of Riihikallio School are safety, responsibility and community spirit. Based on these values, behavioural expectations have been drawn up, and behaviour in line with these expectations is taught and practised at the school.

At Riihikallio School, all adults praise the pupils for good behaviour. Good behaviour is rewarded with a ProKoulu souvenir. The souvenirs are collected in a shared pot for the class. When the pot contains the agreed number of souvenirs, the class holds a party or reward session.
