The municipality of Tuusula has agreed with NREP and Jatke Toimitilat Oy to build the Särmä business and service centre in Hyrylä. The building will have six floors and will include an underground car park, a service yard and an above-ground car park. The gross floor area will be approximately 35,100 m2.

The business and service centre will include premises for the municipality of Tuusula, Prisma and smaller commercial premises. Commercial services in Hyrylä will improve. However, this large-scale project will cause disruption to traffic and parking, as well as noise and vibration. The noisiest phase of the construction work is currently underway.

Project phases

The project will commence with extensive earthworks in the summer of 2024. Prior to this, the municipality of Tuusula carried out preparatory work on the site by demolishing the old shopping centre and constructing municipal infrastructure.

Earthworks and foundation work will be carried out in late summer and autumn 2024. In 2025, foundation work, element installation, roofing work, façade element installation, façade cladding installation and interior finishing work will be carried out. In 2026, interior finishing work will be on the to-do list, and the building will be completed in August 2026.

Impact of the project on the area

This large-scale project to improve commercial services in Hyrylä will cause inconvenience to local residents, businesses, other operators and people visiting the area.

Traffic and parking:

  • Space is needed around the construction site for building materials and access. As a result, traffic and parking arrangements have changed.
  • The car park next to the main library on the Hyryläntie side is closed due to construction work on the Särmä business and service centre. The car park is fenced off and no longer accessible by car.
  • Those visiting the library by car can leave their cars in the swimming pool car park, for example, which is located on the other side of Tuusulanväylä from the library, next to Klaavolantie. The swimming pool car park has time-limited parking spaces, where you can park for 2–4 hours, depending on the space.
  • There are two parking spaces for people with reduced mobility near the main library, next to the taxi rank. Most of the other parking spaces closest to the library are reserved for customers of the businesses located in the commercial properties in question.
  • Heavy traffic will increase in the area during the construction period. The installation of elements and related transport will begin in November–December 2024 and continue until the end of 2025.
  • Any upcoming traffic disruptions will be announced separately on the information board on this page.

Noise and vibration:

  • Earthworks and foundation work cause vibration and noise. The most noisy phase of construction, pile driving, will mainly take place in August and early autumn 2024. In addition, anchoring, possible installation of bored piles, excavation and piling work will cause noise. These work phases will continue throughout autumn 2024.
  • Due to the disruption, there have been changes to the opening hours of Tuusula Library.
  • Customer service Tuusinfo has moved to temporary premises. For the time being, Tuusinfo can be found at Ohjaamo, Autoasemankatu 1, 2nd floor.

The space requirements for the construction project have been carefully reviewed in advance and efforts have been made to minimise them. We are working continuously with companies to alleviate any temporary inconvenience caused by the construction site.
