Living room activities for the elderly
The Senior Citizens’ Living Rooms are relaxed meeting places for the elderly located across Tuusula. The Living Room activities are open to all and require no prior booking. The Living Rooms are politically and religiously independent.
The aim of the meeting place initiative is to strengthen the sense of inclusion and community among teh elder people in Tuusula and to reduce feelings of loneliness. The initiative is run in collaboration with the local council and association Siskot ja Simot ry.

The centres operate in partnership with the Tuusula’s Evangelical Lutheran and the local council. There is usually a cup of hot or cold drink and a little snack on offer, but above all, a chance to enjoy each other’s company and have a good chat! The community centres also organise a variety of weekly activities, such as group singing, chair exercises and craft group meetings.

Meals for the elderly
Tuusula Municipality organises communal lunches for the elderly. Leftovers from the school lunch service are also available to buy to take away. This scheme helps to reduce food waste in schools and provides for the elderly with an affordable, balanced meal. Meals are served after the school lunch, provided there is any food left over. A notice at the school’s main entrance indicates whether food is available for sale. You can find the schools organising these meals and the times on the ‘Meals for the elderly’ page.
Social activities organised by pensioners’ associations
There are plenty of active pensioners’ associations in Tuusula that organise a wide range of activities for retired people. It is easy to get involved in the associations’ activities by contacting them.
