The swimming pool customer survey was conducted online between 12 December and 31 December 2024, and it was also possible to respond to the survey on site at the swimming pool. A total of 452 customers of the Tuusula swimming pool responded to the survey. The survey was anonymous. The survey responses will be used to develop the swimming pool services.

Due to equality issues, respondents were also asked to provide information on accessibility in the background information section. It was found that 27% of respondents had a disability or long-term illness and 8% had some other reason for accessibility (e.g. ADHD, autism, perception or learning difficulties, sensitivity to fragrances). Eleven per cent of respondents reported belonging to a minority group (e.g. religious, cultural, linguistic, ethnic, sexual, mental health or other). This means that accessibility issues affect more than a third (36%) of respondents personally. These responses will be examined in particular when developing equality and accessibility in swimming pool services.

The Tuusula swimming pool was considered a pleasant and safe place.

The swimming pool is considered a pleasant and, above all, safe place. 98% of respondents felt safe using the swimming pool services and facilities. Respondents were also largely satisfied with the customer service at the swimming pool. Visiting the swimming pool seems to be a pleasant experience for the majority, as 93% of respondents said they left the swimming pool in a good mood.

When asked what their dream swimming pool would be like, respondents emphasised the importance of cleanliness, tidiness and comfort. They wanted a swimming pool with a comfortable environment, a peaceful atmosphere and pleasant lighting. A wide range of services and facilities were also strongly emphasised. In the open-ended responses, respondents wanted a variety of pool types, such as a therapy pool, pools for children and cold pools, as well as friendly customer service and high-quality café services. Accessibility for different user groups was a key factor in the responses, as were a good location and easy accessibility. It was gratifying to note that in many responses, the Tuusula swimming pool was already considered a dream swimming pool in terms of cleanliness and comfort, for example.

Participants in guided exercise programmes are satisfied with the service they receive.

The survey asked additional questions about guided exercise at the swimming pool to those who responded that they had participated in guided classes at the swimming pool. 92% of respondents who participated in guided exercise said they were satisfied or very satisfied with the guided exercise services. 97% of those who participated in guided exercise also felt safe during the guided exercise classes.

People belonging to special groups and minorities or with disabilities also felt safe during guided exercise: 95% responded that they felt accepted and safe during guided exercise classes. The majority felt that the instructor had taken their special needs into account during the supervised exercise classes, but 10% felt that they would have liked even more individualised instruction due to their special needs.

The swimming pool facilities will also be improved in terms of accessibility as part of the renovation.

People were already quite satisfied with the swimming pool facilities and their accessibility, but improvements were desired in some individual areas and details. The biggest challenges to accessibility were considered to be the entrance and occasional congestion in the swimming pool. A positive finding was that those who reported having an illness or disability were also largely satisfied with the accessibility of the facilities. Further improvements will be made to the functionality and accessibility of the swimming pool facilities during the renovation work starting in April 2025. For example, improvements will be made to the entrance and cashier area to make the entrance smoother.

How can you keep active when the swimming pool is closed for renovation?

When asked about their plans for exercising during the renovation, the majority (62%) of swimming pool customers said they would go to swimming pools in neighbouring municipalities. More than half of the respondents also planned to maintain their fitness by jogging, cycling, skiing and other forms of independent exercise. In the open-ended responses, respondents expressed a desire for special swimming arrangements in neighbouring municipalities during the renovation of the swimming pool, as well as possible replacement guided exercise classes, as exercise classes cannot be held at the swimming pool during the renovation.

The 10-visit swimming passes purchased at the Tuusula swimming pool are also valid at the Kerava(switch to another service) and Järvenpää(switch to another service) swimming pools, as the 10-visit swimming passes are inter-municipal. The Kerava and Järvenpää swimming pools also issue special swimming passes to Tuusula residents in accordance with the cities’ own criteria during the renovation of the Tuusula swimming pool. Instructions for applying for a special swimming pass can be found in the swimming pool renovation information(switch to another service). Otherwise, you can purchase a wristband at any swimming pool according to the price list, regardless of which municipality you live in.

The validity periods of series and season passes for the Tuusula swimming pool and gym will be extended by the duration of the closure due to renovation work. The passes will be extended when the swimming pool reopens after renovation.

Guided exercise classes will be held at the Hyrylä Sports Centre, Jokela and Kellokoski during the renovation of the swimming pool. Water aerobics classes for seniors will be held at the Järvenpää and Kerava swimming pools. Up-to-date information on replacement guided classes and other services can be found in the swimming pool renovation information(switch to another service).

A prize draw was held in connection with the swimming pool customer survey, with participants entering to win 10-visit swimming wristbands. The wristbands are also valid at the swimming pools in Kerava and Järvenpää. The winners of the wristbands have been notified personally.
