The project involves restoration work in the Heinisuo nature reserve owned by the municipality of Tuusula (property number 858-413-13-33) by damming old drainage ditches. The aim is to restore the water balance of the mire and restore the mire’s natural state. At the same time, the transport of nutrients and solids to downstream waterways will be reduced. The measures are scheduled to be implemented in September 2025. The work has been granted a subsidy from the Ministry of the Environment’s Kunta-Helmi habitat programme.

We are organising a public event open to residents on Wednesday, 7 May 2025, from 5 to 6.30 p.m. at Heinisuo in connection with the restoration of Heinisuo. The project will be presented in the field by Juha Siekkinen (Kosteikkomaailma), who drew up the restoration plan. You are warmly welcome to come and hear more about the restoration and ask any questions you may have.

We will meet at 5 p.m. at Hämeentie 72, from where we will walk about 600 metres to the main channel of Heinisuo (the first 100 metres are along the busy Hämeentie road, so please take care). There is parking space for cars at the meeting point. Please park only on the sand field (not on the driveway or inside the fenced area).
