Combating invasive species with a mobile game
Tuusula Municipality is inviting residents to help search for and control Indian Balsam and Lupin. The work involves photographing the plants before and after control measures have been taken, and participants will receive a reward for their efforts. The project, which launches in early June, utilises crowdsourcing and the Finnish Crowdsorsa mobile gaming platform.
Tuusula’s LUMO programme supports the municipality’s work to promote biodiversity
Tuusula Municipal Council approved the Tuusula Biodiversity Programme (LUMO Programme) at its meeting on 30 March. The programme came into force on 1 April, and its implementation has begun immediately as part of the roll-out of Tuusula’s Municipal Strategy 2026–2029.
Children and young people’s views and experiences influence environmental planning – a toolkit has been developed to support participation
Tuusula’s ‘Child-Friendly Municipality’ initiative promotes opportunities for children and young people to have a say in the planning of their local environment. The participation toolkit, developed by the Growth and Environment Division, provides experts with tools to ensure that the voices of children and young people are heard more clearly than ever before.
Environmental surveys are being carried out on the eastern shore of Lake Tuusula
The Municipality of Tuusula will commission environmental surveys on the eastern shore of Lake Tuusula in the spring and summer of 2026. The surveys will be carried out by the consultancy and design firm FCG.
Common principles for land use along the banks of the Kerava River
Launched last summer, the Keravanjoki kuntoon! (Fix the Kerava River!) project by the Vantaanjoki and Helsinki Region Water Protection Association highlights key issues related to the aquatic environment, such as the need to draw up common land use principles for the banks of the Kerava River.

The municipality of Tuusula and the city of Järvenpää are jointly envisioning the development of the Tuusulanjärvi, Rusutjärvi and Tuusulanjokilaakso areas. Contribute to the finalisation of the development vision by responding to the survey. The survey is open from 19 to 27 January 2026.
The Keravanjoki River of Dreams – vision work accelerates water protection
The Keravanjoki kuntoon! (Fix the Kerava River!) project, organised by the Vantaanjoki and Helsinki Region Water Protection Association, began in the summer of 2025. It brings together stakeholders along the river to find a common vision and goals for developing the river, i.e. to create a vision for fixing the Kerava River.
The condition of municipal rental fields is being investigated in the Hilkku project
The report is part of an operating model being developed in the project, in which four municipalities in Central Uusimaa are promoting carbon sequestration in their fields in order to slow down climate change.
25,000 kilograms caught in management fishing on Lake Tuusulanjärvi
Tuusulanjärvi was restored again this year through management fishing. During October, an average of nearly 700 kilograms of fish was caught in a single haul. The catch was distributed to those interested on the shore, and demand was high.
