The last day of the spring term for primary and secondary schools in Tuusula will be Saturday, 31 May. The autumn term 2025 will begin on Thursday, 7 August

. During the school year that is coming to an end, our schools have paused to reflect on a sustainable future, safety, well-being and the importance of consideration for others. Investing in a shared operating culture and implementing the Child-Friendly Municipality initiative have also played a significant role. The voices of children and young people have been widely heard, and new ways of participation have been introduced. Thank you all for your joint contribution to our journey towards a more child-friendly municipality, says Markus Torvinen, Acting Director of Education and Culture.

Things to note when celebrating the end of term weekend

It is expected that children and young people will gather together in the traditional manner to celebrate the end of the school year and the start of the long-awaited summer holidays.

Youth workers from Tuusula Youth Services will be present at the party venues popular with young people during the graduation weekend in all of Tuusula’s municipal centres, as well as in neighbouring municipalities where young people from Tuusula are known to spend time. Youth workers are safe adults who genuinely engage with young people in their leisure environments.

The Eastern Uusimaa Police Department is also prepared to monitor the end-of-school celebrations. During the evening and night, the police will actively monitor places where young people gather and spend time. In Tuusula, these places include Häklin monttu and the Tuusula Sports Centre.

The police and the municipality of Tuusula remind parents that it is a good idea to discuss the clear rules and risks associated with end-of-term celebrations with your children and young people in advance. Guardians are asked to be available by phone on Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June and to answer calls from unknown numbers. The call may be from the police or a youth worker.

When the rules of the game are clear with the family, the risk of accidents is reduced. Curfews and limits set by parents may be annoying, but they also convey an important message to young people, the police remind us.

Things to do and activities for the summer holidays

During the summer, Tuusula organises a wide range of activities for local children and young people during the school holidays. For example, you can pop in on weekdays to enjoy a hot lunch in the park and take part in various activities for both younger children and teenagers.

In addition to the municipality, many other organisations also arrange activities. Check out the opportunities and join in!

We wish all children, young people and school staff a wonderful summer holiday and warm congratulations to those finishing primary school and graduating from their studies!
