When the building was completed, only part of the capacity of the Peltokaaren daycare centre was initially in use, as three groups of children were placed in the daycare centre. Now there are six groups in the building, which is the number for which the daycare centre is designed. The newest arrivals have been placed in the southern end of the building.

Some of the newest users of the daycare centre moved to the building from the Notkopuisto daycare centre, where the oldest parts of the premises are being renovated.

Operations at the new Peltokaaren premises have gone according to plan. The move from Notkopuisto did not bring any changes to the children’s daycare routine, even though some things are done a little differently. For example, all children come from their own group rooms to eat in the daycare canteen.

Outdoor activities at Peltokaarre focus on spending time in the yard, with occasional visits to parks and nearby nature areas.

– The facilities are modern and can be easily combined. Activities are regularly organised between the groups. This helps children get used to working with lots of different people. We do a lot of planning together as a team, which allows us to share our expertise among professionals, says daycare centre manager Sini Fehrmann
