Tuusula develops swimming areas with residents' views in mind
The municipality of Tuusula aims to maintain and renovate swimming areas so that they are, above all, safe. It also wants to further improve their appeal by listening to the views of the municipalityu0026#x27;s residents.
Tuusula has a total of five official swimming areas maintained by the municipality: Häklin beach, Rusutjärvi beach, Tuusula Sports Centre beach, Jokela beach and Kellokoski beach.
During the summer, Tuusula Municipality’s leisure services collected feedback and development suggestions from residents to improve swimming areas. The quick survey on the development of swimming areas contained only one question: How would you develop the swimming areas in Tuusula? Respondents were given an open field to freely express their thoughts on the development of swimming areas in their own words. The survey was distributed on social media in the spring and summer of 2025. A total of 49 responses were received.
Residents would particularly like to see more comprehensive maintenance of the beaches. Many of the responses called for more frequent cleaning, removal of vegetation from the beaches and adding more sand to the beaches.
Ideas for improving the services and facilities at swimming beaches were also received. Many comments related to wishes for better changing rooms and toilets. Lockable lockers were requested in several comments. More opportunities for resting and eating snacks were requested, including benches and tables, especially in shady areas. More rubbish bins were also requested for the beaches to maintain cleanliness. Larger parking areas were requested, especially near the popular Häklin beach. A few responses also requested kiosk services or a wider selection at existing kiosks.
Dog swimming areas were mentioned in the responses; respondents wanted swimming areas for dogs or access to official beaches. Tuusula has a dedicated dog beach on the shore of Lake Tuusulanjärvi (Tuuskoto, Kotorannankuja 10, Tuusula).
Beaches are very important for the well-being and recreation of municipal residents. The aim is to continue developing the safety, comfort, usability and services of beaches, taking residents’ wishes into account. Feedback and customer surveys aimed at residents support the development of beaches and bathing areas.
We appreciate all the development ideas and feedback we have received!
