Cheeks red from being outdoors

Winter holidays are the best time for outdoor activities. Go skiing or enjoy skating on outdoor rinks and ice rinks. Lake Tuusulanjärvi offers opportunities for many different activities – skating, skiing, walking and kick sledding, as well as enjoying the surrounding services. You can spend pleasant moments outdoors with friends and family sledding down hills and hiking in the woods. You can also enjoy winter swimming.

Check the current conditions and get moving:

Winter holiday floorball games will be played from 16 to 19 February at 1:30–3 p.m. on the ice of Lake Tuusulanjärvi in front of Tuuskodo (Kotorannankuja 10, Tuusula). The games are aimed at primary school children and are free of charge, subject to weather conditions. You can participate on the days that suit you best. No advance registration is required. You will need your own stick, skates and helmet, as well as appropriate clothing for the weather.

Family tours during winter break week in Halosenniemi and Erkkola – free admission to museums for children and young people

Bring the whole family to hear about life in Halosenniemi. What was life like in Halosenniemi during the Halonen era on the shores of Lake Tuusulanjärvi? Halosenniemi’s new exhibition, “From Stone Masons to Loggers,” presents commissioned works and public art painted by Pekka Halonen, such as altarpieces and murals.

During the winter holiday week, there will be guided tours for families and a treasure hunt during the museum tour, which will allow visitors to experience the museum in a completely different way.

See more detailed information on the Halosenniemi website:

Erkkola’s spring exhibition “Lehden terällä” (On the Edge of the Leaf) combines observation of nature, efforts to preserve it, and the use of natural materials such as dried flowers in art. Immerse yourself in the themes of art and nature with the whole family during the winter holiday week’s guided tours. How is nature depicted in art? And what natural materials can be used to create art?

During the winter holiday week, there will be guided tours for families and public tours focusing on the history of J. H. Erkko and Erkkola, as well as the current exhibition.

Things to do in libraries

Tuusula libraries are open as usual during the winter holiday week – come and borrow books, comics, console games and board games if you’re stuck for things to do!

The Jokela Library will host two film screenings during the winter holiday week. On Wednesday 18 February at 5 p.m., Materialists (K7) will be shown for young people and adults, and on Thursday 19 February at 1 p.m., the children’s film Wild Robot (S) will be shown. Bring your own snacks and come and enjoy the film!

At the main library’s game room in Epeli, you can come and play with your friends on PlayStation 4, and at Jokela Library’s Vinkkel, you can play on Xbox One. You can reserve a game time from the library’s customer service. All users must have their own library card with them.

Co-creation in osbu workshops

The open workshops for children and young people to jointly develop Osbu will continue during the winter holiday week. On Monday 16 February at 3–4.30 p.m., there will be an Osbu workshop at the Kellokoski Library, and on Tuesday 17 February at 3.30–5 p.m. at the Jokela Library. Come and join us to brainstorm with others on how to put the ideas that have been selected into practice and turn them into voting proposals. At the same time, you will learn the secrets of co-creation – and if you wish, you can also receive a certificate of participation, which may be useful in the future. Bring a friend and come and make a difference!
