In May 2026, Tuusula will be the stage for Finland’s biggest vocational education event when the Taitaja2026 competitions bring hundreds of young professionals, teachers and partners from all over Finland to the Tuusula Sports Centre. Janne Mellin, Mayor of Tuusula, is one of this year’s Taitaja ambassadors.
– We are delighted to host this event in Tuusula. We have a fantastic sports centre and can offer an excellent setting for showcasing the practical skills that are building Finland’s vitality and future, says Mayor Janne Mellin.
Taitaja is an annual Finnish national skills competition in which young people studying for a vocational qualification compete in events based on basic vocational qualifications. Taitaja is open to young people studying for a vocational qualification who are 22 years of age or younger in the competition year. Some events have no age limit.
The Taitaja2026 event and the finals will be held in Tuusula on 18–21 May 2026, and the main organiser of the event is the Central Uusimaa Education Consortium Keuda. The finalists will be selected from across Finland in the semi-finals held on 26–30 January 2026. The event will take place at the Tuusula Sports Centre and the surrounding grounds.
Approximately 50,000 visitors are expected to attend the Tuusula Sports Centre. There will be around 400 competitors and 48 sports. Admission to the event is free.
A separate Taitaja9 final for secondary school pupils will also be held in connection with the Taitaja event. In this competition, young people in Years 7–9 will have the opportunity to take part in a practical skills competition and at the same time learn about different professions. Participants in the Taitaja9 final are selected through local and regional competitions.
