Library

Summer opening hours: 31 May–16 August 

• The main library is open Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 7 pm and on Fridays from 9 am to 4 pm. The library is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. The reading room opens Monday to Friday at 8 am, and self-service hours are from 9 am to 10 am.   
• Jokela Library is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 pm to 7 pm, and on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 4 pm. The library is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. 
• Kellokoski Library is open on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 pm to 7 pm, and on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 4 pm. Self-service hours are from 7 am to 8 pm Monday to Thursday, and from 7 am to 6 pm Friday to Sunday. During the school end-of-term weekend, the self-service library will have special opening hours: on Friday 29 May, the self-service library will close at 4 pm; on Saturday 30 May and Sunday 31 May, the self-service library will be open from 7 am to 2 pm.
• The Kirre mobile library will operate only on its evening routes from Monday 1 June to Thursday 25 June and from Monday 3 August to Thursday 13 August. From Friday 26 June to Friday 31 July, Kirre will be on its summer break.  

Midsummer opening hours

• On Thursday 18 June, the main library will close at 4 pm. Jokela Library will be open from 10 am to 4 pm. At Kellokoski Library, staff will be on duty from 10 am to 4 pm, and the self-service library will be open as usual. The Kirre mobile library will not be running its evening route. 
• From Friday 19 June to Sunday 21 June, all libraries will be closed. The self-service library in Kellokoski will be open as usual. 

Museums in Tuusula

• Erkkola and Aleksis Kivi’s death cottage are open during the summer from Tuesday to Sunday, 10am–5pm. Both will be closed over Midsummer, 19–21 June. 

• Halosenniemi is open until 21 June, Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm, except on Midsummer’s Eve (19 June), when the museum is closed. From Monday 22 June to Sunday 9 August, Halosenniemi is open daily from 10 am to 5 pm, with guided tours taking place every day at 2 pm. From 11 to 30 August, the museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.

• The Kellokoski Hospital Museum is open from 4 June to 18 July on Thursdays and Saturdays from 11am to 5pm, and during the ‘Come to the Museum’ weeks from 20 July to 2 August, Tuesday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm. The hospital museum will be closed on Midsummer’s Day, Saturday 20 June.

Integration services

Maspa, the centre for foreign-language speakers, is open during the summer too. The language and digital cafés are also open.  

• From 1 to 30 June, Maspa is open on Mondays and Wednesdays in Hyrylä and on Tuesdays in Jokela. Opening hours on all operating days are from 12 noon to 4 pm.

• The Language Café is open on Thursdays in July from 10.00 to 11.30, and the Digital Café is open from 12.00 to 13.00 throughout July. The venue is Aunela.

• The Youth Start-up Workshop is on summer break from 6 to 19 July.
• Outreach youth work will be on summer break from 6 to 26 July.
• Ohjaamo will be closed from 13 July to 9 August, but the Ohjaamo helpline will be available from 27 July on 040 314 2221.

Early childhood education

The reduced services in South Tuusula will be provided at the Tuusulanjärvi Day Care Centre from 22 June to 2 August. Drop-in care will also be available. Please note: The playground at the Tuusulanjärvi Day Care Centre will be for the exclusive use of the day care centre during the reduced services next summer (due to drop-in care).

Reduced services in the Jokela area will be provided at the Peltokaari nursery from 22 June to 2 August.

Eating in the park

This summer, outdoor dining in Tuusula will take place as follows:

• In Kotkanpuisto, South Tuusula, from 1 to 18 June, and at Tuusulanjärvi School from 1 June to 31 July.
• In Jokela, at Notkopuisto from 1 to 18 June and at Lilly Kajanus-Blenner Park from 22 June to 31 July
• At Björkenheim Park in Kellokoski, 1 June–31 July

Meals are served on weekdays in June and July from 11.30 am to 12 noon, or until the food runs out. Around 80 portions are prepared per dining venue. A hot main course is served daily. Drinks or special dietary options are not available. If necessary, any leftover food is also distributed to others who wish to have it.

There is no need to register in advance for the picnic. We ask participants to bring their own cutlery, as well as a plate and a drink.

Building Control  

The technical helpdesk will be available throughout the summer holiday period, almost as usual.
