The new lakeside path around Lake Tuusulanjärvi is now open along its entire length

Part of the Satakielenraitti path, built at the southern end of Lake Tuusulanjärvi, has been closed in recent months to ensure undisturbed nesting for birds. From the start of August, the trail will be open along its entire length. The official opening ceremony will take place on 19 August.

To protect these values, the northern section of the trail will remain closed to all use during the birds’ breeding season – that is, from the start of April to the end of July – for the foreseeable future.

Tuusula Municipality is organising a small-scale opening ceremony on Satakielenraitti on Wednesday 19 August from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm. The venue is Valkamanpuisto, next to the junction of Kirkkotie and Koskenmäentie. Refreshments will be served at the opening, and Mayor Janne Mellin will give the opening speech. There will be a special programme for children and the young at heart; along the trail, you can try your hand at photo orienteering, and in the event area by the shore, you can paint stones. An expert from Apus, the birdwatchers’ association, will be on hand to talk about the birds in the area.
