Consultation as support for school attendance
The consultation is intended for all schools and pre-school units providing basic education in the neighbouring municipalities.
The consultation focuses in particular on pupils with psychological symptoms whose problems relate to, for example, behaviour control, bullying, truancy and mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression or self-harm.
No prior contact with a healthcare professional is required to obtain a consultation.
Early intervention can prevent problems from accumulating and students from becoming marginalised.
Consultation work in hospital education is carried out in collaboration with the guardian, the student’s own school, student welfare services and, if necessary, a multidisciplinary network.
Consultation may involve fieldwork, telephone consultation, or participation in negotiations on site or via remote connection.
We do not provide telephone consultations without a completed consultation authorisation form.
The consultation is invoiced to the pupil’s home municipality based on the actual costs incurred. Consultation costs are invoiced to municipalities twice a year.
Consultation is required by law (Basic Education Act, Section 4a).
The request for consultation can be submitted to the school by the pupil’s guardians, teachers, student welfare services, the treating party or any other party working with the pupil. We require permission for consultation from both the guardian and the pupil’s school or pre-school unit before commencing consultation.
