One-off grants
We grant one-off subsidies for resident-oriented and community-promoting activities, as well as for travel expenses related to culture, sports and youth activities.

Principles gove ing one-off grants
One-off grants may be awarded for activities that support the strategy and policies of the municipality of Tuusula (see general grant principles). One-off grants can be applied for throughout the year on a rolling basis via the e-services platform. If necessary, the centralised customer service point TuusInfo can assist with electronic services.
There will be a break in the processing of one-time grant applications from 30 June to 3 August. Applications received in July will be processed in August.
The types of one-off grants are:
- event support
- travel allowance
- volunteer assistance (rubbish bags, gloves, snacks, equipment on loan, municipal work).
As a rule, one-off grants are not awarded:
- activities that have been supported by other municipal grants. The applicant's receipt of rent subsidies or use of a community loan scheme does not prevent the award of a one-off grant.
- only for activities or recreational trips intended for their own community or members
- company acquisitions or business expenses
- paid events
- procurement or investments that are secondary to the main activities of the community or operator.
The decision on a one-off grant will be made by the end of the month following the date of receipt of the application at the latest. One-off grants are awarded on the basis of the application, the grant principles and discretion. One-off grants are not awarded retroactively.
Types of one-off grants
Event support
Event support can be applied for, for example, to organise an open event or occasion or for pop-up-style activities.
Event support may take the form of financial assistance for organising an event, other support related to the implementation of the event, such as communication assistance or equipment rental, or a combination of these. As a rule, the support granted is only a part of the total costs of the event or activity.
The event organiser is responsible for all arrangements related to the event, such as applying for the necessary permits, safety arrangements, event staff, and event communications and advertising.
Travel allowance
Travel grants for travel expenses related to culture, sports and youth activities may be awarded to applicants who promote the visibility of the municipality of Tuusula in a positive manner in national and inte ational activities. The recipient of the grant must be a resident of Tuusula or a community or individual operating in Tuusula.
The purpose of the grant may be travel, representation duties or participation in other one-off events. Recreational trips or independent familiarisation trips are not eligible for support. The awarding of travel grants is always based on discretion.
Travel assistance may be granted for travel:
- which is cultural, youth or sports activities
- which promotes the visibility of the municipality of Tuusula in a positive manner in national or inte ational activities
- which is not supported by other municipal grants
- lasting no longer than one week (seven days). If the trip is longer, the portion exceeding seven days will not be subsidised.
When granting travel assistance, priority is given to:
- representative trips, participation in which highlights Tuusula or the expertise of Tuusula residents
- performance or competition trips based on invitations, or significant competition trips at a high level
- trips to twin towns representing Tuusula
- study trips aimed at, for example, developing the association's activities
- trips such as those described above, where participants are under 29 years of age.
Travel grants may be awarded to individual applicants, groups or teams. The travel grant may cover up to 20 per cent of the total cost of the trip or a maximum of €1,000 per applicant. Teams or groups must apply for the grant as a team or group; participants cannot apply for travel grants as individuals.
For youth groups, assistance may be provided for travel expenses. Expenses incurred by guardians or officials for travel or participation in the trip are not covered. Applicants for assistance must note that all members of the group or team must have the opportunity to participate in the trip, regardless of municipal assistance.
Travel grants may be awarded no more than once per year per applicant. Travel grants may be awarded to applications from different teams or groups belonging to the same association or club on special grounds.
Volunteer allowance
Volunteer assistance supports residents’ independent activities in green areas. Residents can organise volunteer work in parks, municipal forests, along streets, in market squares and other public areas in Tuusula.
The municipality assists by lending the necessary equipment for the work and providing accident insurance for the volunteers. At its discretion, assistance may also be provided in other ways, such as by removing plant waste or contributing to the costs of the work.
In voluntary projects, one-off grants may be awarded at discretion for the purchase of materials for activities that promote the well-being of municipal residents.
Granting of one-off grants
The municipality will make a decision on the one-off grant by the end of the month following the date of receipt of the application at the latest. The grant will be paid into the account specified by the applicant in the grant application after the appeal period (7+14 days).
Reporting on one-off grants depends on the grant decision. If necessary, the report must be submitted by 31 December at the latest via the online service.
Associations that have received grants must keep records of how the grants are used and retain receipts for at least six years in accordance with the Accounting Act. Private individuals must also retain receipts until reporting.
