Story Sharing Café is a relaxed and cosy event on Saturday 8 March at 6 pm at Kulttuuritalo Monio. The event brings together people from different parts of the world, with different backgrounds and perspectives, to meet and share everyday stories. Stories are shared and listened to in small groups around coffee tables. An experienced Story Sharing group will participate in the discussions. The group speaks several languages, which makes it easy for people from different backgrounds to participate. The languages spoken at the event will include Arabic, English, Spanish, Farsi, Greek, Finnish, Swedish and Russian.
Participation in the Story Sharing Café event is completely free of charge. At the event, strangers meet each other at a coffee table and play a simple story-sharing game. At the table, every participant is equal. You can participate in the event alone or with friends.
In addition to discussions at the coffee tables, the programme includes guest storytellers and live music performed by musician Nemat Battah, as well as an open mic for those who want to share their stories with all participants.

Children welcome at the event
During Story Sharing Café, free childcare services will be available for participants at Kulttuuritalo Monio. The service is provided by Onninalle Lastenhoitopalvelu, a childcare service offered by students at the Etu-Töölö entrepreneurship-focused upper secondary school in Helsinki. Childminders Aava and Meea will be responsible for childcare during the event. The childcare service enables adults with families to participate in the event and focus fully on telling and listening to stories.
The event is organised by Story Sharing Universum. It is held with the support of the Uusimaa Regional Council’s Culture Market in cooperation with the cultural and immigration services of the municipality of Tuusula.
