Construction of the Koskensillantie car park begins
The design of the parking garage to be built at the corner of Koskensillantie and Hyryläntie will begin in April, and actual construction work will start in late summer. The building will have a total of 414 parking spaces.

The Koskensillantie car park meets the parking needs of the rapidly developing Hyrylä town centre. Some of the parking spaces in the car park are for public use, some are for residents of neighbouring housing companies, and the rest are for apartment buildings to be built in the vicinity at a later date.
− The municipality of Tuusula is investing in the development of the town centre, which also requires investment in parking solutions. The new parking facility will provide spaces for people visiting the area, for example. At the same time, a significant number of parking spaces will be built to meet the needs of current and future residents in the surrounding area. This will enable us to build efficient residential blocks without very expensive parking solutions, says Pirjo Sirén, Director of Municipal Development in Tuusula.
The car park will be built as a turnkey construction project, with Keski-Suomen Betonirakenne Oy, the contractor selected for the project, responsible for the entire project from the design stage onwards. The building will have 4.5 floors and a floor area of approximately 12,000 square metres.
Modern and cost-effective
There will be 414 parking spaces in the car park, ten of which will be reserved for people with reduced mobility. In anticipation of the increasing popularity of electric cars, as many as 83 parking spaces will be equipped with charging facilities. The project also includes its own property transformer. Any future modification needs will be taken into account in the design and implementation.
“For example, electricity distribution is implemented using busbars so that in the future, it will be easy and cost-effective to arrange charging facilities for all parking spaces in the building,” explains Marko Koskinen, the contractor’s project manager.
The building frame will be cast on site and the intermediate floors will be post-tensioned. Post-tensioning makes the intermediate floors completely watertight. At the same time, the structures can be built from prefabricated elements in a more environmentally friendly way, as less concrete and steel are used. Brick tiles will be installed on the façade facing Hyryläntie, while the other façades will be clad with aluminium mesh.
The cost of the project is approximately €7.3 million, which is significantly less than previously estimated. The cost per parking space is therefore less than €18,000. This is considerably cheaper than the average price of €20,000–25,000 for parking spaces in the capital region. Thanks to high-quality design and implementation, savings will also be achieved in operating and maintenance costs.
