Tuusula adopted the principles of a safer space
The municipality of Tuusula has adopted safer space principles for its premises and events. The principles are summarised on posters that will be displayed in the premises during the summer.
The principles of a safer environment promote equal treatment, avoiding assumptions, respecting boundaries, learning and allowing mistakes, and addressing inappropriate behaviour. With these principles, we want to create an open, respectful and safe environment for everyone to participate in municipal activities. We adhere to these principles at municipal events and in municipal facilities, such as libraries, schools, community centres, service points and sports facilities.
Principles drawn up with residents and staff
Children, young people and members of sexual and gender minorities in the municipality were involved in drawing up the principles for a safer environment last year. The principles were prepared by a working group led by the municipality’s participation team, which also included representatives from cultural services, the library, sports services and youth work.
An atmosphere of respect and non-discrimination through cooperation
The municipality of Tuusula wants to ensure a respectful and safe atmosphere in its activities. This goal is pursued by complying with and asking those participating in the activities to comply with the principles of a safer environment. Everyone can influence the safety of shared spaces and situations through their behaviour. We create a safer environment together.
If you notice discrimination or inappropriate behaviour, please contact the event’s harassment contact person or a municipal employee. You can also report your observations by filing a harassment report online at asiointi.tuusula.fi.
