Creativity and self-expression through pins and street art

At the badge workshops held at Kulttuuritalo Monio, you can design and make your own colourful Pride badge that reflects who you are or supports the message of equality. You can attach the badge to your clothes or backpack, or give it as a gift – a small gesture with a big meaning!

The badge workshops will be held on Wednesday 20 August and Thursday 21 August from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The Monio Cultural Centre is located at Pataljoonantie 6, Tuusula.

At the graffiti workshop held at Jokela’s Notkopuisto Park, you can dive into the world of street art! In this workshop, you will learn about graffiti art techniques and get to try spray painting yourself in a safe and guided environment. Together, we will create a colourful and empowering work of art that celebrates diversity and community. No previous experience is necessary – just an open mind and creativity!

You can participate in the workshop on Wednesday, 20 August, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Notkopuisto is located at Jyväkuja 16, 05400 Jokela. The workshop is organised by Funk On, a company specialising in street art.

Literature and reading tips during Pride Week – author visits to Monio and book exhibitions in libraries

The cultural programme for Pride Week offers opportunities to pause and reflect on stories and explore diversity through literature. During a writer’s visit organised at the Monio Cultural Centre, Tiina Tuppurainen will talk about her work as a writer and her new books – the non-fiction book Salatun rakkauden historia (The History of Hidden Love), published in the spring, and the novel Jossain on aina San Francisco (Somewhere There’s Always San Francisco), to be published in August. The event will be held on Thursday, 21 August, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Pataljoonantie 6, Tuusula.

During Pride Week, Tuusula libraries will host rainbow book exhibitions showcasing works on diversity for different age groups. There will also be book recommendation lists to help you discover different books and enjoy new reading experiences.

Encounters, games and café atmosphere for young people

Youth services’ social media channels can be used to increase awareness of Pride, and the Pride board game played at youth centres offers a fun and thought-provoking way to learn about equality issues.

In addition, on Friday 22 August Riihikallio Youth Centre Kertsi will host a Rainbow Café open to everyone in two age groups: from 4:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. for primary school pupils (grades 4–6) and from 7:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. for secondary school pupils and those under 18 years of age. The Rainbow Café offers a safe space for meeting, chatting and hanging out. The Riihikallio youth centre Kertsi is located at Pellavamäentie 13, 04320 Tuusula.
