Give feedback on the development visions for the Tuusulanjärvi area
Draft visions have been drawn up as a basis for further work in the development project for the Tuusulanjärvi lake and Tuusulanjokilaakso valley area. Comments on the drafts can be submitted until 30 September.
The municipality of Tuusula and the city of Järvenpää are jointly envisioning the development of the Tuusulanjärvi, Rusutjärvi and Tuusulanjokilaakso areas. The goal is to draw up a joint vision for the development of Tuusulanjärvi and the river valley during 2025, as well as a concrete action plan for its implementation.
For the vision work, we are gathering extensive information on how the area is currently used and what kind of development ideas the residents of Tuusula and Järvenpää or visitors to the area have. During the summer, information and ideas were collected through a map survey. In August, we invited Tuusula municipal councillors to a vision workshop.
Based on the initial data, the survey and the results of the council’s workshop on future aspirations, three alternative development visions were drafted and presented to everyone in an open Teams webinar on Thursday, 18 September.
We now welcome feedback and comments on the drafts from anyone interested in the matter. The drafts are available online, and feedback can also be submitted via an online survey until 30 September.

Based on the drafts and the feedback received, ideas, strategies and objectives are selected as the starting points for the development vision.
Next steps
In October, we will hold resident meetings open to all residents in Tuusula and Järvenpää. At these meetings, we will continue our vision work based on the draft vision developed from feedback and consider, in particular, what is required in practice to achieve the selected objectives.
The development vision material will be compiled into a report, which will be published in early 2026. The vision plan and action programme will serve as tools to guide the development and planning of the area in the future.
The municipality of Tuusula and the city of Järvenpää will provide information on the progress of the work and future opportunities for participation and comment phases on their websites and social media, among other places.
