Autumn nature in the local area boosts wellbeing

The autumn holiday week inspires people to get out and about in nature. Tuusula has many outdoor destinations, such as the Sarvikallon recreation area and Fjällbo Park on the shores of Lake Tuusulanjärvi, the Seven Brothers hiking trail through South Tuusula, and the Hyrylä, Jokela and Kellokoski outdoor trails, where you can spend your holiday hiking at a leisurely pace. Don’t forget the opportunities offered by the nearby forests!

Exercise at sports facilities

If you are looking for refreshing exercise during your holiday, Tuusula’s indoor and outdoor sports facilities offer many opportunities.

If you feel like playing racket sports, for example, check out the sports facilities at Tuusula Sports Centre.

Tuusula’s outdoor sports facilities offer many free sports opportunities that are open to everyone, such as disc golf courses, skate parks and a BMX track.

The Tuusula swimming pool is closed for renovation, but you can still go swimming and enjoy the sauna at nearby swimming pools if you feel like taking a dip. The nearest swimming pools are located in Kerava, Järvenpää and Hyvinkää.

Free admission to Halosenniemi, Erkkola and the Lotta Museum for visitors under 18 years of age

23 September marked the 160th anniversary of Pekka Halonen’s birth. Halosenniemi is celebrating the artist’s life and career with an exhibition entitled “Far away from the city – in the painter’s landscapes“. Halosenniemi is showing Halonen’s paintings from his home region of Lapinlahti, his travels in Finland and the surroundings of his studio home on the shores of Lake Tuusulanjärvi. Halosenniemi is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 12 noon to 5 p.m.

Martta Wendelin (1893–1986) is best known as an illustrator of idyllic domestic and rural scenes. However, in the 1920s and 1930s, she also depicted a completely different era and atmosphere: the hustle and bustle of cities and fashionable jazz girls. Erkkola’s autumn exhibition, Silk Stockings, Bobbed Hair, highlights this lesser-known phase in Wendelin’s career, which depicted modern femininity and urban culture. Erkkola is open Wednesday to Sunday from 12 noon to 5 pm.

During the autumn break from 11 to 19 October, children can learn about the history of the Lotta Svärd organisation through a fun Lotta treasure hunt at the Lotta Museum exhibition. They can also burn off some energy and play in the museum’s playground. During the museum’s opening hours from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., children can also take part in a Pikkulotta photo orienteering event. The Syväranta Hall has a cupboard with books and board games suitable for children, which can be played with on the lower floor of the museum. Don’t forget to visit the museum café, Lottakanttiini!
