Participants were able to familiarise themselves with the current space plans and the changes made based on the previous workshop. During the evening, there was discussion about the usability, adaptability, adequacy and safety of the spaces.

“We received many important comments and suggestions for improvement, which can be taken forward to the next stage,” says project manager Asko Honkanen, thanking the residents for their active participation. The premises are being built for users, and all feedback during the design phase is particularly valuable.

The workshop particularly emphasised the genuine accessibility of the premises. Several suggestions were made during the evening, including regarding the absence of steps, acoustics and lighting. Changes to the plans were also requested with regard to the entrance. The municipal premises on the first floor are also in use outside the opening hours of the social and health centre, so access must be easy and accessible at these times as well. In addition to a display board, audio announcements of

bus arrival and departure times were considered essential in the bus waiting area. Other concrete suggestions for improvement included replacing the stair lift with a ramp and adding a childcare room and a disabled toilet to the meeting rooms. Coat racks and lockable storage lockers were requested

for the reception area waiting room.In addition to the regular shifts required by the association’s activities, there was also a desire to be able to reserve the facilities for individual events and functions. The question is whether regular slots should be allocated for specific days of the week or times, says community manager Katja Repo about the results of the workshop, adding that the results will be discussed with the project planning group in February.

Once completed, the new social and health centre will serve all residents of the Central Uusimaa welfare area. It will be built in the centre of Hyrylä, next to the swimming pool, as part of a larger welfare block. The premises will be used by Keusote, the municipality of Tuusula and HUS Diagnostics, as well as private operators. Operations in the new premises are scheduled to begin in early 2029.
