Principles of ski trail maintenance

We adhere to the following principles:

  • Tuusula Municipality's leisure services will begin grooming the ski trails in each municipal centre as soon as weather conditions permit.
  • In Hyrylä, we will first renovate the ski track, i.e. the area around the sports field and biathlon stadium. We will start making ski tracks on the golf course as soon as there is enough natural snow and we receive permission to renovate the golf course. We will also make a ski track in Annivaara. In terms of maintenance, we will focus on the trails at the sports centre and Sikokallio. Our goal is to keep them in good skiing condition at all times.
  • We start making the Kellokoski ski trails from the Hospital Park. If the snow conditions allow, we also make trails on the Riviera and Purolaakso municipal trails and in the Kaunisnummi terrain. We make an ice trail on the river when the ice can support heavier equipment.
  • In Jokela, we will begin renovating the ski trail network in the area around the fitness trail and sports centre. First, we will prepare the base for free-style skiing. Later, when there is enough snow, we will also prepare a traditional ski trail. In Lepola, we will bring snow from the skating rinks to the ski trails. This will ensure that the trails remain in good condition for skiing for as long as possible in the spring. We will prepare the connecting trails between Kolsa and Perttu when there is plenty of snow.

Lighting

The lights on illuminated routes are on from 6 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. and from dusk until 10.30 p.m. The illuminated routes are Hyrylä Sports Centre and Sikokallio, Jokela fitness trail, Kellokoski fitness trails, Annivaara and Myllykylä fitness trails.

Skiers’ etiquette

Remember skier etiquette:

  • Follow the marked skiing directions.
  • Choose your route based on your fitness level and skill.
  • Traffic on the tracks is on the right-hand side.
  • Be courteous and mindful of your surroundings, conditions and other road users. The faster, more skilled and stronger ones will swerve out of the way.
  • The tracks are for skiing only.
  • Walking dogs, walking, horse riding, sledding or similar activities that compromise safety are prohibited on maintained ski trails.
  • We maintain the ski trail network in accordance with the principles found on this page.
