Information for new swimming school pupils
- Swimming lessons are held at the Tuusula swimming pool.
- The swimming lessons are intended solely for children living in Tuusula.
- Swimming schools have age limits that must be observed.
- The swimming course consists of 5 lessons on weekdays. Each session in the pool lasts 30 minutes.
- The price of the swimming lessons is €22.80 for 5 sessions. This includes the swimming pool entrance fee.
- Make sure you arrive at the swimming pool on time for your first visit.
- Here’s how to upload a video for the first time(switch to another service). (YouTube)
The swimming school fee is paid at the swimming pool ticket office on the first visit. Upon payment, the child will receive a wristband, which must always be scanned at the turnstile upon entering the swimming school. Once all swimming sessions have been used, the wristband is left at the gate. The wristband is valid for two years, during which time any unused sessions may be used. The swimming pool is not responsible for lost wristbands.
At the swimming pool, we use the group changing rooms: girls use the girls’ changing room (changing room 4) and boys use the boys’ changing room (changing room 3), regardless of the guardian’s gender. Access to the group changing rooms is granted via a wristband. The group changing rooms are not used by other customers at the swimming pool. In the group changing rooms, children are the responsibility of their guardians. Swimming instructors collect the children from the washrooms in the group changing rooms. The group moves to the teaching pool under the supervision of the swimming instructor. This also applies if the guardian is swimming themselves during swimming school. In this case, the guardian takes the child to the pool-side entrance of the group changing rooms, where the children gather and proceed to the pool under the supervision of the swimming instructor. On Wednesdays, the swimming pool opens at 11.00. The Wednesday morning swimming school groups from 09.00 to 11.00 will run according to the normal timetable, but guardians will not be able to swim during this time. If a pupil is late, the guardian must take them to the teaching pool. After the lesson, we will take the pupils back to the washing facilities in the group changing rooms, where the guardian must be waiting. There is a 15-minute period for washing and getting changed before and after swimming lessons. Outdoor footwear must not be worn in the shower and pool areas. Shoe covers are available in the group changing rooms. Children are permitted to use the changing and washing facilities independently provided we have written permission from the guardian. Permission slips are available at the swimming pool ticket office.
*Swimming lessons for young people use the communal changing and shower facilities.
Please inform the swimming instructor if your child is absent. We would also appreciate it if you could inform the swimming instructors of any illnesses your child may have and any medication they are taking. You can leave a message for the swimming instructors on 040 314 3496.
The aim of the swimming school is to help children learn to swim independently and naturally. No flotation aids are used during lessons. The swimming instructors are the swimming pool’s fitness instructors. Due to rota arrangements, the instructor may not necessarily be the same person throughout the entire swimming course.
At the end of the swimming course, we give pupils a swimming certificate, but we do not record their swimming achievements in the certificate, nor do we award swimming badges.
What should I bring?
Please bring:
- swimsuit and towel.
- a hair tie or swimming cap for long hair.
- swimming goggles and a towel, if required.
- We do not recommend using a diving mask.
Come and have a swim!
