Riihikallio School, Rykmentinpuisto School and Daycare Centre have been completed
The Riihikallio School and the Rykmentinpuisto School and Daycare Centre are ready for use. Over the past few weeks, the buildings have been furnished, and operations will commence this week at the start of the 2025–2026 school year.
The municipality of Tuusula is building new schools and daycare centres in accordance with its strategy and service network plan. The aim is to provide healthy and safe facilities for growth, learning and leisure activities.
The Martta Wendelin daycare centre began operating in 2022, and the Monio upper secondary school and cultural centre in 2023. The most recent additions are the Tuusulanjärvi school and daycare centre and the Peltokaaren daycare centre, which opened in 2024.
The Riihikallio School and the Rykmentinpuisto School and Daycare Centre have now been completed.
Riihikallio School serves all pupils in the Riihikallio area.
The pupils of the current Riihikallio School will be relocated to the Riihikallio School. The school property consists of a new building constructed on the current school grounds (pictured below) and two parts of the current school building that will be retained.

Riihikallio School is a four-form comprehensive school with a maximum of approximately 840 pre-school and primary school pupils. The school houses the preparatory education class for South Tuusula, and the school intends to continue as the municipality’s music-focused school, offering a wide range of music education to children and young people in Tuusula.

Outside school hours, the property offers facilities for a wide range of leisure activities. An open local sports facility will be built in the courtyard.
The new building and part of the courtyard area will be taken into use in August 2025, while the demolition of the old school and the renovation of the sports hall facades will be completed later in autumn 2025. Depending on circumstances, the local sports yard will be completed by summer 2026 at the latest.
Rykmentinpuisto School and Daycare Centre: lots of activities under one roof

The Rykmentinpuisto school and daycare centre will accommodate pupils from the Hyökkälä and Mikkola schools and children from the Rykmentintie daycare centre. The building has space for a total of approximately 1,000 primary and secondary school pupils, including approximately 40 pre-schoolers and 150 special needs pupils. The daycare centre will have 168 places.

Most of the staff will transfer from other schools in the area. The adaptability and functionality of the building will enable the development of a new operating culture. The school will also bring together special needs students from the area, whose space and working solutions have been given special attention since the beginning of the project.
Rykmentinpuisto School and Daycare Centre combine learning, culture and the joy of exercise thanks to its proximity to a sports centre and a versatile local sports ground.

Local residents can use the facilities outside school and daycare hours for a wide range of hobbies, leisure activities and community events. Physical activities can be enjoyed in the courtyards and gym, while the art and music rooms provide excellent conditions for performing arts, for example. Comprehensive facilities for soft and hard crafts enable a wide range of manual skills to be practised, and the meeting rooms can be used for meetings or game nights, for example.
Most of the shared facilities are fully accessible and barrier-free, allowing as many people as possible to participate fully.
Operations in the new premises will commence this week. The official opening ceremony for the new premises will be held later in the autumn, once the school and daycare centre have settled into their new routines.
