The historic Kellokoski ironworks and hospital area served as a meeting place for construction professionals.

The event, aimed at construction professionals, kicked off in the historic Kellokoski ironworks area in northern Tuusula. A dozen participants representing major construction companies attended the event. The programme included an exchange of current news, a presentation of land available in Tuusula, and a tour of a few local sites that are linked to the Tarinoiden Talot (Houses of Stories) event to be held on Saturday, 23 August 2025.

Presentations were given on the municipal centres of Kellokoski and Jokela in northern Tuusula as residential, event and business locations, Tuuma Homes’ plans for Kellokoski, the sale of the HUS hospital area in Kellokoski, the development of Hyrylä town centre and the Rykmentinpuisto area development project, says Project Development Manager Mirka Härkönen. 

The diversity of land supply

The event also provided an overview of the land available in the Tuusula area. Plots suitable for terraced houses and apartment buildings, as well as commercial plots enabling companies to locate in Tuusula, are available in various parts of the municipality.  

Tuusula offers a wide range of housing solutions for different stages of life. The denser Hyrylä town centre and Rykmentinpuisto park offer more urban living close to services. Northern Tuusula offers larger plots for detached houses than the south, and there are also plots for producers. Businesses are attracted by the Rykmentinportti business area and the future Focus area, among other things, Härkönen summarises the presentations.

At the end of the event, those who wished had the opportunity to visit a few thought-provoking sites – some of which were innovative housing solutions implemented in the historic buildings of the Kellokoski ironworks and hospital area, and others were spaces and facilities that are also open to the general public. The sites presented are part of the Tarinoiden Talot (Houses of Stories) event. 

The Kellokoski Ironworks Peace apartment in Ruukki was admired by the participants. The factory’s past can still be sensed today in this home, which is decorated with a touch of bohemian style.

Kellokoski Manor, the art stairs and the hospital museum offered a glimpse into the past of Kellokoski Hospital and the current and future uses of the area.  

The Tarinoiden Talot (Houses of Stories) event opens its doors on Saturday, 23 August 2025, to some of the most interesting locations, offering visitors a real insight into different interior design styles, the history of Kellokoski Hospital and the beautiful surroundings of the ironworks. The event will feature both public and private locations, all of which have stories to tell and sights to admire.
