The latest residents’ magazine offers a fantastic list of tips for enjoying the summer. Read about places to visit in the Lake Tuusula area, the refurbished swimming pool, the local sports facility currently under construction at the Sports Centre, or the swimming spots maintained by Tuusula Municipality. For those keen on local tourism, the magazine also features a tourist map listing places to visit around Lake Tuusula, as well as places to eat and shop.

We’ll also be updating you on the latest news from the library; the renovation work currently underway will improve our services, and we’re set to gain some extra space too.

If you find yourself suddenly keen to get stuck in, why not check out our tips on how to boost biodiversity in your garden, or join in the fight against harmful invasive species using a mobile game – we’ve included instructions for this in the magazine too. Environmental work carried out at the municipal level is covered in our article on the park forest plan, amongst other things.

We’ll also be sharing the latest news on participatory budgeting, or ‘osbu’. This time, it was the children who had their say in osbu, and we received a huge number of suggestions. In this article, you’ll find out what the most popular ideas for improvement were.

In addition to these topical issues, the magazine features interesting articles on, for example, promoting physical activity in schools, the Tuusula Municipality’s strategy, as well as stormwater charges and the modernisation of the water supply network.

A comprehensive summer supplement included with the magazine

Included within the Tuusula residents’ magazine is the ‘Tuusula Culture Summer’ supplement, packed with a wide variety of content in the familiar summer style. As well as an extensive list of events, the supplement offers some real treats for art exhibition enthusiasts, for example. Why not start by reading the article about the exhibition that has opened in Halosenniemi, ‘Sacred Nature – From Pekka Halonen’s Paintings to Contemporary Art’? From Halosenniemi, it’s a good idea to let your thoughts wander to Erkkola, where we present the exhibition ‘Literally Speaking’.

For those summer moments spent in a hammock or armchair, you can check out the exciting reading recommendations put together by the library staff.

Of course, we mustn’t forget the highlights of Tuusula’s cultural summer: Tuusula Week from 20 to 26 July and Tuusula Arts Night on 7 August. Following these, from 24–29 August, the Central Uusimaa Pride and its pre-event week will take place, so we’re in for a summer packed with events. You can find comprehensive event programmes and useful tips for visitors in the attachment.
