New swimming ban at Kellokoski beach due to high bacteria levels
A sample taken from Kellokoski beach on 16 July 2025 has been found to contain intestinal bacteria exceeding the action limit. For this reason, swimming was prohibited today, 17 July 2025, at Kellokoski beach.
The water at Kellokoski beach once again meets quality requirements
A repeat sample taken from the Kellokoski swimming beach on 8 July 2025 did not reveal any levels of enterobacteria exceeding the action limit, and the water quality met the requirements set for bathing water. Swimming is once again permitted at the Kellokoski swimming beach.
Swimming should still be avoided at Kellokoski beach
The enterococcus concentration in the swimming water at Kellokoski beach continues to exceed the action limit. A new sample will be taken from the swimming water on Tuesday, 8 July 2025, and the results will be announced once they are available.
Avoid swimming at Kellokoski beach in Tuusula
Enterobacteria exceeding the action limit were detected at two beaches in Central Uusimaa, while the microbiological quality of the water at other beaches is good. One of the beaches is located in Kellokoski, Tuusula.
Microbiological quality of bathing waters in Central Uusimaa good
On 5 June 2025, the Central Uusimaa Environmental Centre collected samples for monitoring bathing water quality from the largest public beaches in Järvenpää, Mäntsälä, Tuusula and Nurmijärvi, i.e. the so-called EU beaches. The samples were tested for Escherichia coli bacteria and intestinal enterococci. The microbiological quality of the bathing water met the quality requirements set for bathing water. No blue-green algae was observed on the beaches. Bacterial concentrations were very low.
The draft plan for the green network is moving forward to the municipal development committee for consideration.
The municipality of Tuusula promotes the diversity of its local nature through land use planning and environmental management. One part of land use planning is the ongoing preparation of a general plan for the green network (VISSI). The Municipal Development Committee will discuss the draft plan at its meeting on 14 May 2025 and decide on its publication.
A serious strain of bird flu has been found in Tuusula in a barnacle goose.
A white-fronted goose found near the Rantamo-Seittelin wetland in Tuusula has been diagnosed with highly pathogenic avian influenza, a serious disease affecting birds. The bird was taken to a veterinarian in an injured condition and, after being euthanised, was sent to the Finnish Food Authority for examination. On 24 April 2025, the examination confirmed that the bird was carrying highly pathogenic avian influenza.
