Work on repairing the gravel roads has begun
With the arrival of spring, maintenance work on gravel roads has begun again in Tuusula. Spring maintenance is necessary to ensure that gravel roads remain passable.
Work continues on the construction of the Ristikiventie footpath and cycle path
Tuusula Municipality is resuming work on the Ristikiventie footpath and cycle path, which had been on hold over the winter. The project is scheduled for completion in August 2026.
Tuusula got a new traffic safety plan
The new safety plan, drawn up in cooperation with Järvenpää and Kerava, outlines the content and priorities of the municipalities' road safety work for the coming years. The vision of the plan is to reduce the number of road traffic fatalities and serious injuries in the area to zero by 2035.
Field surveys along the Itärata railway line
The planning of the Itärata railway line between the capital region and Kouvola is progressing to the stage of terrain surveys for the route alignment. The first surveys and measurements will begin in April. A small section of the route alignment is located in the southernmost parts of Tuusula.
Exceptional arrangements for train traffic in Jokela
The Finnish Transport Agency has announced that some local train services operating at night and in the early morning will be replaced by buses between Järvenpää and Jokela in the coming months. In addition, some trains will use a different platform than usual in Jokela. During the exceptional arrangements, installation work related to the main line renovation project will be carried out.
Excavation work for the main line development begins in Hornankallio
The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency has announced that excavation work related to the Helsinki–Riihimäki railway line development project will begin in Hornankallio, Tuusula, on Monday, 9 February. The excavation work will cause temporary noise and traffic disruption in the area.
Pedestrian safety to be improved in Jokela
The safety of road users crossing at pedestrian crossings is being improved in Jokela with the use of warning capsules, or Välky. The device warns drivers of vehicles approaching the pedestrian crossing by flashing a light. Investing in pedestrian crossing safety is particularly important in areas located near schools.
Easter Road EIA report available for viewing and resident meetings
The Licensing and Supervisory Authority has made the environmental impact assessment (EIA) report for the Itärada railway line available for public inspection until 13 March 2026. In addition, Itärata Oy is organising several public meetings to present the EIA report.
Noise from railway work at night in Nuppulinna
According to the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, hammer drilling related to the main line development project will be carried out in Nuppulinna at night during weeks 2 and 3 of January.
Main line development project progresses in Tuusula area
The development of the railway section between Helsinki and Riihimäki will also be strongly visible in the Tuusula area next year. Among other things, additional tracks and bridge work will be carried out between Purola and Jokela. The Jokela station area will be renovated.
