A serious strain of bird flu has been found in Tuusula in a barnacle goose.
A white-fronted goose found near the Rantamo-Seittelin wetland in Tuusula has been diagnosed with highly pathogenic avian influenza, a serious disease affecting birds. The bird was taken to a veterinarian in an injured condition and, after being euthanised, was sent to the Finnish Food Authority for examination. On 24 April 2025, the examination confirmed that the bird was carrying highly pathogenic avian influenza.

Summer in Halosenniemi is spent under the Paris sky
Halosenniemi's summer exhibition "Under the Parisian Sky – Artists' French Themes" opens on Wednesday, 30 April. The exhibition presents paintings by Finnish artists from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, created during their years of study in France. Paris attracted artists from all over Europe. After studying art in Finland, Pekka Halonen studied in Paris in the early 1890s. In the spring of 1894, he was taught by the famous French painter Paul Gauguin.

Public walk to restore the Heinisuo nature reserve on 7 May 2025
The municipality of Tuusula and the Central Uusimaa Environmental Centre are organising an open public event on 7 May 2025 on the restoration of the Heinisuo nature reserve. During a walk, we will learn about the measures taken to restore the mire and their objectives.
The summer season kicks off at Tuusula Museum sites
Tuusula's museums will switch to their summer opening hours in May. Aleksis Kivi's cottage on Rantatie in Tuusula will open its doors, and the opening hours in Erkkola and Halosenniemi will be extended. The Kellokoski Hospital Museum will open its doors for a few days in May.
National Veterans' Day celebrations in Tuusula on 27 April 2025
Sunday, 27 April 2025, is National Veterans' Day, which will be celebrated in Tuusula with festivities at Tuusula Church, Veterans' Park and the Monio Cultural Centre. Advance registration is required for some of the events.
Alva consultation at Kalliomaa School ends
Since 2018, the Tuusula municipal hospital school, Kalliomaa School, has been offering multidisciplinary hospital school consultation services to schools and pupils in the Tuusula, Nurmijärvi, Järvenpää and Pornainen areas. Consultation assistance has been provided by a team consisting of three special education teachers, an occupational therapist, a psychiatric nurse and a school social worker. Due to savings in the welfare sector, Keusote will no longer offer the services of an occupational therapist, nurse or social worker for consultation. The multidisciplinary Alva consultation will therefore end on 31 May 2025.
